Stacks...

well i just ordered stacks. and i hear if it rains or snows you have to cover them with a bucket or somethin. Im gettin the aussie cut and was wonderin if i have to cover them if its just lightly raining or what.

I wouldn't think you would have to cover the aussies like you would a miter or straight cut. I'm sure theirs still a chance of rain getting in but it wouldn't be as bad as the mitre or straight cuts. I personally think you'll be fine without rain caps with the aussies.

alright cool thanks man

Oilfield_Mafia 10-28-2009 05:35 PM

Why would you HAVE to cover the stacks? Ive got a 6" single Mitre cut and I never cover it. Ever.. rain sleet snow or hail. why would you HAVE to cover it?

i heard from someone that you should cover them if its rainin but i guess theyre wrong idk. just askin for you guys opinion. guess i wont have to cover them then haha

i have aussie's on my truck and i never cover them. unless the truck is sitting for long periods of time.

team-mad 10-28-2009 09:53 PM

The main reason they cover them in bad weather is because if it rains water goes into stack, next day you start the truck up and it will blow some diesel soot out, aint gonna hurt nothin

Where did you get your stacks from? looking to buy a set for my pick up i just cant believe how damn proud they are of them things, christ i ddint think they would be nearly that much. mind me askin what ya paid for them? what siz are they?

I had straight cuts on mine w/ rain caps and after bout 3 months the dinging of the caps started drivin me nuts. :ouch: So now i'm runnin mitres and it's rained all week :argh: and so far i've havent had a problem.

the biggest thing you would have to worry about with rain is if it did rain enough in theory it could get all the way up to the turbo and hydro lock the engine...but were talkin and ungodly amount of rain...the biggest thing that will happen is the flex pipe will start to rust out after a few years of rain getting down in there...like mine:ouch:
