3rd Gen Tech: Icebox Intake
If you haven't considered this intake, PLEASE DO!!
I heard a little about it on the boards, and thought why not give it a try. I ordered mine with the torque tube, and an Amsoil Ea nano Filter. The torque tube is shipped separately, BTW. I installed it in my truck, only took about an Hour to do... Even with household interruptions... I couldn't believe how easy the Icebox installed! The quality of fabrication was fantastic, and the kit contents were complete! Here are some pics of the install. After unpacking the Icebox, pardon the mess on the workbench... http://i18.tinypic.com/82xx8c8.jpg Pic of the torque tube and Icebox. http://i14.tinypic.com/8a1eqa1.jpg The intake with the sensor installed. http://i5.tinypic.com/817p99t.jpg Another shot of the installed sensor. http://i2.tinypic.com/6llj02h.jpg You need to remove the top cover next. http://i17.tinypic.com/6ujc2za.jpg Disconnect the radiator overflow hose. Also disconnect the Negative lead of the battery http://i5.tinypic.com/7x2989h.jpg Remove the Stock Torque tube if you purchased an aftermarket unit. http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i.../2lx8bhi-1.jpg You'll need to remove the Filter, to allow access to mount the Icebox to your truck. http://i1.tinypic.com/7y7ff5h.jpg The Icebox mounts to one of the fan shroud/radiator bolts. Remove this bolt, and compare it to the threads of the 2 included bolts. The CORRECT bolt is the one without the extra washer and self locking nut! http://i2.tinypic.com/854l1dv.jpg Just start bolt into threads of Radiator/fan shroud location. http://i5.tinypic.com/6tun5zo.jpg Continued in the next post... |

Then align hole in back of Icebox to factory rubber mounted location, Place bolt through Icebox and factory grommet.. (This may require threading bolt through rubber grommet, as tolerances are tight.) Place washer and self locking nut on bottom and tighten until snug.
http://i9.tinypic.com/8g8x3br.jpg If you purchased a Torque tube with your Icebox, it's time to install it. NOTE: the long end goes to the Icebox, and the shorter end goes to the turbo. (In this pic, the long end is to the Left, and the short end is to the Right...) http://i11.tinypic.com/6t0stgw.jpg Pic of the tube installed... This is going to sound GREAT!! Note that clearance is tight to battery positive, and that Intake sensor is wrapped around outside of tube to keep it away from motor heat. http://i2.tinypic.com/8aycq2w.jpg Reinstall the Air filter, I chose the Amsoil Ea nano filter option... If you use this filter, you'll have to "Persuade" it into position... http://i3.tinypic.com/82nawbt.jpg Reconnect the Radiator overflow. http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...rs/7x2989h.jpg Reinstall the top of the Icebox. http://i2.tinypic.com/8fdqrtc.jpg You are DONE! Don't forget to hook up the Negative battery lead, then fire it up and take it for a spin!! http://i2.tinypic.com/6p81n4j.jpg |
