Default Do not do business with DTT diesel performance.

And here is why:

October 3rd 2011, I called Stefan at DTT and ordered a low stall single disk converter for my 12v, We had a lengthy discussion about the power output of my truck, my intended uses, why I wanted to upgrade from my current setup and what I expected from a new torque converter. He called me back with a shipping quote, at which time I provided my credit card info, and made a payment of 1029$, which I was led to believe included everything.

Fastforward to December 4th 2011, I still have not recieved a torque converter from DTT, and I have also not recieved an invoice which was to be e mailed. After numerous unanswered phone calls and E mails I finally managed to get someone to answer a phone, after inquiring about where my converter was , I was told it had not shipped because the core charge had not been paid, as I had not received an invoice, I had no proof of what I had and had not paid for... I grudingly paid the core charge, which amounted to 314.51$, knowing that at last I could get it back when I returned my core and once I got an invoice , I could prove it had already been paid. At this time I again requested an invoice, I provided two E-mail addresses, a fax number, and again provided my mailing address to be sure there were no issues.

Fastforward to december 17 2011, my torque converter arrived, I was not impressed upon opening the box to see what appeared to be the EXACT same converter I already had, and was not happy with in the least... again , calls to DTT to verify what I had received was what had ordered and there was no mix up in shipping, went unanswered. I had a week off between christmas and new years, so I decided to install the converter in hopes that it was indeed a lower stall speed as I had requested. A quick test drive confirmed that the new converter was exactly the same as the one I had just removed. I put on less than 6km during that test drive, after which I removed the new converter, drained it , and put it back into the box it had arrived in. Now this is where it starts to get a little fun.... After waiting two weeks for DTT to re-open after the christmas/newyear holiday, I started making phone calls again, I managed to get through after a few days of trying, stefan told me to send him an E-mail containing all the info, and what the problem was , and he would look into it. I send said E-mail, never to receive a reply, again phone calls to the office, as well as Stefan's cell phone went unanswered, voicemails were not returned, E-mails were not answered. After I felt I had exhausted myself, I decided to try another route, I contacted my credit card company about disputing the charges from DTT. I sent them what information I had , but since I had ordered over the phone, I had no written proof of what I had ordered. I have still not received an invoice , so I have no proof of what I actually paid for, and since there are no identifying marks on the box or converter itself, I really cant even prove that what I received was not what it was supposed to be. Mastercard contacted DTT after numerous attempts, and Stefan himself told them I had put 8000-9000 kms drag racing the truck since I installed the converter, and that I had not tried to contact him previous to sending him an email with my issue. Stefan did however tell the lady at mastercard that was to call him and he would discuss options with me to make this right ( I thought ok... this is getting somewhere....)

I called stefan immediately, no answer.... three more calls that hour and he finally answered, he gave me a sob story about being hurt in a snowmobile accident and unable to work ( which is possible , but I do not personally believe him after what he has put me through so far). His fix for the problem was for me to send him back the converter, and he would have his techs adjust the stall to what it was supposed to be... I should have told him shipping was up to him, but in an effort to get my truck back on the road, I paid the shipping costs to return the new converter to him... 148$ and change... ( this is starting to get expensive....) I got confirmation on Feb 10 2012 that the converter had been delivered to the address Stefan personally provided me. Stefan assured me it would take less than a week to modify the converter to my requirements ( what it should have been in the first place?!)

It is now april 10th 2012, and I have no converter, I have left voicemails, and E-mails several times a week every week for the last 6 weeks, all to no avail. Stefan from DTT has my money, my converter, and I have no truck to drive. Summer is fast approaching and I really need my truck. I would like this nightmare to be over, I would really like to have all my money back and never speak of DTT again, but having the correct converter that I long ago paid for would also make me happy. I have given up making calls to DTT as it is obvious they have no intentions of answering, so without getting some sort of law involved, my only other option is to become a thorn in his side. I do not want to, but I am starting to think I am out my money , and will have to buy a converter elsewhere. My goal in sharing this story is to prevent anyone else from dealing with Stefan or DTT. Stefan is a dishonest business man, I am inclined to use the word thief to describe him, and I think every person in the diesel performance world deserves a fair warning before doing business with him. I have talked to numerous people over the last few months that have told me DTT has turned into a company with non existant customer service, once they have your money they could not care less. I passed up cheaper better quality products from other vendors by buying from DTT, I decided to support a Canadian company, which has turned out to be a poor decision on my part.

If anyone has any thoughts or advice to help me remedy this situation, or wants to contact me personally, please post here, or PM me for my phone number, and please, tell everyone you know, so they can avoid getting ripped off by DTT.

Jayme Miller.

P.S. - If Stefan reads this , and actually wishes to contact me, you already have ALL of my phone numbers.

Gunman , I tried going back through my Credit Card company, they were useless , they called stefan and he flat out lied, telling them I had put a lot of miles on the truck when in fact I had not, and the woman from mastercard took his word over mine...

I got a second hand reply from Stefan on DTR the other day, I will post the link as well as copy and paste it here.

DTR

Here is Stefans Reply posted by someone else :

Since Stefan can't post here:

I have done a little checking, and we did go back and forth by e-mail. The last one I can see was from Jan 5, but that's not to say that one that was sent later wasn't deleted.

I did tell Jaymie Miller to send the TC back to me, and I would do a stall change for no charge, eventhough the stator we would be using was more expensive and comes in the TC that cost $795 not $685 that he purchased.

The thing that really surprises me is that I didn't see a TC come in with a note that said anything about this, and we get a ton of cores which makes it tough to figure out what we are doing with everything. I also asked the girls and they said that we have not shown a TC coming from Jaymie Miller, so maybe it came under a business name or something other than the name on file? They did say that there was a TC that came under Miller Farms, but that wouldn't mean anything to the guys checking in cores, as I put up a flag for Jaymie Miller. Plus without something that it wasn't a core, no one would ever know.

I have not been contacted since this TC was supposed to come to us, and Shanti that moderates our other e-mail address she hadn't seen anything either. So this thread and the one on the cummins forum kinda took me by surprise. Im not saying that maybe a e-mail wasn't sent, but I did a search with Jaymie's e-mail and couldn't find anything.

So at this point I can have a lower stall TC built, as I have no idea if the TC that came from Miller Farms is even Jaymie's as I don't have a address, and nothing on his file says anything about that.

Bill, if you are able to post this for me that would be great.

Thanks,
Stefan

Here is my reply:

I described in detail the power my truck is making, what my intended uses are, what I expected performance wise, what I currently had for a converter, and why I did not like it. I was told that the converter I paid for was going to be exactly what I needed, so I bought it. At this point do not care if it costs stefan $10 000, I want my money back ( ALL of it), or I want what I was led to believe I was purchasing. Furthermore, I was led to believe the TC was being built for me... the one I got was an off the shelf unit from DPC ( I have nothing againt DPC here). If your going to buy your stuff from other manufacturers, learn to remove old shipping labels... I own a heat gun.

If thats the case, you need to start keeping a closer eye on your employees, I shipped the converter back in the same boxes I received it in, to the address I was given - 6496 Swanson Street, V2R 1P8, Chilliwack British Columbia, which appears to be stefans home address, at least on street view. So saying that "the guys who check cores would never have known" is BS, it was delivered right to his house, and accepted by Shanti herself. My full name and address was also on the box as a return address because I thought this was a little shady for a company like DTT to be giving a home address for a core return.... There WAS also a note in the box waiting for whoever opened it, explaining the situation. The converter WAS shipped from a commercial account titled "miller farms", the reason being I work, a lot, and I did not have time to sit around waiting for purolator.

Do your customers usually wait a few months to ship parts back to you when they dont receive what they paid for? I have tried to contact you numerous times with no response. You have my phone number(s) (I know this because I tried calling from a different phone half way across the country once, and when the person who answered found out who I was, I was put on hold, for quite a while) you have my address (although you say you dont, you did manage to ship me one converter, so you must have had my address at some point?)

Thanks to everyone who posted so far for your support, have been in contact with some friends in the RCMP, and technically this is a civil matter, but thats not to say they couldn't "direct some extra attention" to Stefans day to day life... I have not done this yet, but every day I go without my truck I get a little closer to wanting to make his life a little harder...

Wow... that sucks. It's a shame there are so many companies like this in the diesel community.

Hopefully you get the situation squared away.

The charges were from last november.... Regardless, this negative attention towards DTT may have paid off, I got a phone call from Shanti at DTT saying they were going to refund all my money... I will be watching my CC statement, and I will post when i see it happen.

That really sucks. It seems that there is a lot of stuff like this going on in the diesel community, and it's a shame.
