Glow Plugs $.01!!!

Found this on a few other boards -- worth checking out! My autozone hasn't started the sell down yet...

Autozone
Has discontinued these glowplugs and are selling them at $0.01 a peice. The part number is Motorcraft ZD-11 & ZD-1A (6.9 IDI plugs).

Call before going in to make sure they have them, and put them on hold for yourself.+

Directions -

Call autozone. They'll want your vehicle information - tell them you just want to know if they have a SPECIFIC part on the SHELF. Give them the Part info... "Motorcraft ZD-11"

They'll put you on hold most likely... when they come back ask them to price scan them and verify if they are 1 penny... they should be, if they aren't then tell them you just bought 3 for a penny at another location...

Go from there fella's...

Go to Yellow Pages, White Pages, Maps, and more - Switchboard.com and type in "Autozone" and then type in your city followed by a comma and then a space and then the 2 letter abbreviation of your state and hit "Enter". Example...

Elkton, MD

Then at the top add a radius of 15 or so miles and then click search if you didn't find any...

What I learned yesterday cleaning out every Autozone I could.

Autozone stores are set up in different districts. There are five districts all around my immediate area. That's the reason prices are varing wildly, some have started the sell down, some have not. If you've hit a district that has completed the sell down, they'll tell you the glow plugs are a special order item. Stores that are in the process of the sell down will have the things priced from $2.99 and up. I did see $2.00 at one store. Some stores will sell them for a penny and others will not. The reason for this is that when they hit a penny, the store is supposed to send them back to the central warehouse, not sell them. Apparently, a lot of counter folks and managers are not aware of this and are selling them. I got lucky first time out and hit a store that sold me 16 for a penny each, and it was the store manager that sold them to me. I took that reciept to just about every store in town and got them to knock their plugs down from $2.99 to a penny. One store manager just handed me the plugs and said "have a nice day". He would not charge me the 8 cents because he said it would screw up his ticket average! One manager explained how they were supposed to send them back when they hit a penny but knocked the price down anyway since the other stores had done it. One guy refused to budge off of $2.99.

The trick is to get some for a penny, show the reciept at the other stores you go to and get them to match it. It's best to go after 5 pm or later, when the store manager has gone home. If the store is still pricing them above $2.99, which is a great price, call back every few days. They will be getting cheaper as time goes by. -

hmmmmm i'll have to check with the 3 autozone stores i'm gonna pass tomorrow.... Brent, if i can get them for a penny you just pay me shipping.... i'll even try to snail mail them to cut cost down.... -

heck, even at $3.00 or less, that is a great deal - so just lemme know what ya find! These are for the 7.3L Powerstroke...not the 6.0 or 6.4

Interesting, if someone does not have an Autozone around search 76137, 76180, 76040 I am in all those areas every day and I would be willing to pick them up for someone. -

re they the ones with the bullet end or the spade connector? vIE can they be used in a 7.3 IDI turbo? -

I'm not sure -- I just know they will fit in my 7.3 (99-03) as those were what the other guys were buying up... so I would say prolly not.... but i'm definately no expert on that

guess it all depends on the part number up top in this thread -

nope -- thats the regular price....

I guess the key is making them get the part and scan them in -- supposedly thats when the discount shows up... I'm gonna go to my Autozone today and have them scan one

Bummer -- I also saw that the ZD-1A is also on sale -- that means you 6.9 IDI guys are in luck! -
