Default torque converter problem?

today I was leaving my house and got on it pretty good to dump some coal half mile later I turned at a stop sign and was just getting up to speed driving normally at about 1800rpms before it was about to shift it was like the torque converter or something in the tranny locked up and wouldn't allow me to accelerate anymore and it slowed me way down I let off the throttle and it then I could feel it kick out and wasn't slowing me down anymore. So I paniced and limped it back home. Does anybody know what the problem could be?
Thanks,
Garrett

Get it figured out yet? Now that I think about it I'm not sure that an Edge will read tranny codes. Might have to find someone with Auto Enenuity for that aspect of trouble shooting. Btw put your location in where it displays (top right corner under your join date like mine) every time you post and maybe someone near you will see it and be able to help you out in person.
