Default 4r100 question..

I have 2002 F350 (SRW), crew cab,LB,4x4, 7.3 with about 213k miles.. Truck already has a jasper rebuild in it ( ive seen the tag),but has started slipping hard and heating up... So I'm determined to hopefully take care of it by taking Out and rebuilding/upgrading... I know I'm gonna put a better trans temp gauge in and a better cooler (6.0 prob), but what would be some good guts to use inside??? I've heard about shift kits, valve bodies, clutches, and a triple disc billet TC.. But trying to see what others have used and had good luck outta.. Prob gonna start this soon so any help is good help.. Idea is to set up for towing and every day driving.. I tow the occasional mud trucks, tractors, med. duty equipment, etc.. Nothing ungodly and not on a Regular basis.. There are small good hills around here too..

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Also only thing done to truck right now is a TS 6 position chip (Stock, idle, 50,75,100,140) and straight pipe exhaust with 8" tip..

Spend the money on a good torque converter as that is usually whats dies first unless you fold the sprag. Avoid the bully dog valve body, it is to aggressive if you have any kind of power, don't ask how I know . Upgrade the sprag, 6 pinion planetary, center support, and a lot of people go with the transgo tugger kit when they go inside the trans. Luckily I had help from a guy who has been building transmissions for about 30 years when mine grenaded.

Check with these manufactures on Tq Converters, ATS, Suncoast and Banks, make sure you get one that will fit the need of the truck. Usually a 1000ftp or better. It will help with longevity due to lift, tire size, power performance and not to mention every day pulling.

Tugger kits are good. Fairly in depth install but gives you several tuning options to tailor the trans for what you need. Sprags are one way roller clutches, the free spin one way and hold the other. Very common to shatter in the e4od and wipe them out.

4R100-HD2 Tugger is part number for shift kit. Since your in KY, call wit in Louisville and check their price but, you can also google and see who you can find cheapest. You can also request price quotes from supporting vendors of this forum. I deal with WIT a lot and I like dealing with XDP too. Great prices with price matching and usually to me within two days.

That's a good setup like an add on kit for the rebuild kit. I believe its all hard parts and the reprogramming kit. The updated center support is something youll deff. want. Check out their rebuild kits to get the frictions and steels and seal kit. One thing about suncoast is a couple years ago they stopped including any kind of instructions with the kits. I guess due to liability reasons. Its not a big deal, you just have to watch what your doin as far as the adding additional clutch packs and being able to keep your clearances correct.
