Default Died while driving.. HELP

Well... I was pulling in my drive way coming home from work and my tuck just died.... I went to restart it... it turns over really strong and wants to start... but it just wont.

I changed the batteries and tested the alternator
I changed the cam postion sensor
I drained the fuel bowl and its refilling
I checked all the fuses

so im kind of at a loss at what to do or try next... I can change most parts and do the work.. but diagnosing is past mechanical knowledge... any help would be appreciated.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

oh and two other things... I know i have a short on my right side glow plug wiring harness... and when i pulled the cam position sensor there was oil on it.. is that normal?

under valve cover harness gave me fits with my 95 one time. idk how to tell you how to verify it, but if you take the valve cover off and look at the harness you should be able to elimate that anyways..

Are you getting smoke when cranking? How about oil level in the crankcase and HPOP res?

Also, you know that the glow plug harness is also the injector harness which supplies that entire bank...

no I did not no that I am new to diesels.... so explain cause and effect of that in laymen's terms... and I just did an oil change so the oil level should be good... where and how do i check the HPOP res.

Thanks for the reply

HPOP res is on the front of the motor in front of the fuel bowl. That tall metal rectangular shaped thing is the reservoir for the oil that feeds the injectors. On the top right should be a little plug, either 1/4" square or an allen head. Pull that out and dip something inside, should see oil on whatever you dip in there about 1/2" from the top.

The harness is basically like this.. each plug goes into the valve cover gasket and is pinned out as g i c i g...g=glow plug i=injector c=common... that goes under the valve cover to your injectors and glow plugs... If you have a short at the plug, it is probably affecting more than just your glow plug. If there is a bad connection at the plug, it is going to affect two injectors and two glow plugs...
