Default Speedo and odometer not working

Hi guys got an 06 6.0 f250 was turnin onto a hwy and couldn't get it to go over 100 km's I tried deceleration and then accelerate again nothing truck was reving upto almost 4 grand ad not switching to high gear. then the speedometer crapped out. Pulled over for a few hours and had a break for a few hours drove it again all was fine for about a day before it crapped out again left with no speedo no odometer and what seems to be a lack of power in my truck took it to a tranny shop since the speed sensor is in the transmission they could not find any codes that displayed anything even saying the speed sensor was not working. Although a code did pop up 1780 tcs which he said had to do with the tow haul function guess just another issue I will have to address. trucks got about 114 thou

The speed sensor is not in the trans, it is in the rear end housing, they can get gunked up and not work rite, pull it out and clean it up and see what happens. if it doesn't work out just replace it,

Speed sensor is located on top of the rearend housing. Pop it out and clean off. But with that many miles Id just buy a new one. Just had mine replaced for the same problems you are having but it didnt fix it. After many trips to the Ford dealership and no fix I went over the wire harness in the engine compartment and under neath the truck. I had found that the wire connection leading to the fuse box on top of the drivers side fenderwell had come loose. Pushed them back together and the made a good snap sound so I knew they came loose. After that I have had no problems with either the Speedo or Odo and no more engine crapping out on me.

So just an update I took my f250 to ford today they diagnosed it as the ficm having low voltage they swapped out the ficm and re programed the truck oddly enough this restored the odometer and speedo truck runs way better. Now I can focus on the next issue

I can't believe a FICM caused the speedo and odo to not work, WTF?

Only time I've had them stop working was when I had that overboost condition holding boost at a stop light. Truck lost power for a couple miles and gauges went to flat. It came back after driving down the road though.

I would test your batteries too. Have them load tested, just for curiosity sakes. Dying batteries can produce all of these symptoms. Even if the FICM was dying, it should effect your transmission operation at all, but weak batteries certainly will, and they're known to kill FICM's. Might be worth looking over your charging system so you're not doing this again in a month.
