Default erratic low oil pressure

my idi has started to show low oil pressure at idle or when im breaking and get to around 25mph not throttle itll jump around when its warming yp but eventually when im not on the throttle and under 25 its at the bottom of the gauge reading no pressure i replace the oil filter and its good for about a day to a week then starts acting up same with when i change the oil which when i do that of course i do the filter could it be my bypass valve or oil pressure regualtor valve how hard is it to replace these is it pricy...i would just hook a mechanical gauge to my truck but the sending units right underneath my turbo any feedback or help would be much obliged thanks

install a mechanical one. the factory gauges SUCK to be blunt. you can get oil psi from other locations. one you can put a T at the top of your turbo where the line comes in.

here are some other oil ports.

will need to replace the entire rear head of the oil cooler. the bypass valve is located inside the head. non servicable.

new oil coolers are expensive. i belive you can buy just the heads of them. IIRC the heads are around 150 bucks or so.

here is my write up on oil cooler reseal. the rear head( where the oil filter screws onto) is where the oil bypass is located. if you get a new cooler from a yard, make sure you rebuild it first. will cost ya about 40 bucks or so for the orings and is cheap insurance. dont want to have to pull the cooler twice. it isnt fun.
