Ok gents, I need a favor. I'm looking for some low RPM boost data points. How much boost can your turbo setup build at 1500RPM?

I ran up a suitable hill in 4th about 30mph and can achieve 3-4psi.

Has anyone tried a variable geometry turbo on a v2203 yet?

Not sure where your going with this, but I am getting 5-8 psi. I have to drag the brake to keep it there because it wants to pull past 1500, as soon as I get to @ 1700 the boost jumps fast, well past 20 psi. Mine doesn't like much below 1700 and seems to do best at 1800-2200. I'm still running the same turbo as you.

Hi Everyone, I am looking at enlarging the Kubota flywheel center from 20mm to 21mm to fit the pilot bearing from ford clutch kit, and I am guessing that it needs to be bored out for accuracy. I dont own any reamers but I am guessing that a pretty tight fit will be just fine. Let me know if anyone has a better solution, thanks for all the posting and pics that everyone has done, I would never have had the courage to start this project without everyones generosity.

You need to take it to a machine shop that has a lathe big enough to chuck it up in and have it enlarged. Take the bushing with you so they can fit it. I left a shoulder at the rear of mine to seat the bushing against.

Michael, where abouts are you located? Im not sure what shipping would be but I would be willing to do the machine work for pretty cheap since I have another flywheel to do at the same time. You are also going to need more then just the center bored to fit the pilot bearing. You will have to face the flywheel down to get the right engagement, and turn the diameter down to fit inside the bell housing. I can also hook you up with an adapter if your truck came with the 4.0L. If you want to stay local with the machining, I can also hook you up with all the dimensions for turning the flywheel down and hole spacing for the clutch dowel pins and threaded holes

I got impatient and bored it out using a light boring bar extended out pretty far so there is a bit of taper, it seated really nicely in the back of the bore. Probably should have left a shoulder but I think it will be fine.

Western Washington State. Thanks for the offer. Mine is a 4.10 rear from a 3.0 engine. I turned the flywheel leaving a lip at the edge and centered the old pressure plate using shim stock and drilled from that. A little bit redneck but I was patient and think I did a pretty good job. I am hoping I am within a few thousandths. Anyway its done and I cant go backwards. I dont have any big regrets, the 2203 bearings seem huge -I think it will be ok. I have done the 1/4" steel plate combined with 1/2" if the kubota flywheel housing for the adapter. Cardboard and doorskin plywood for the templates-I think from usedkubotamans thread. I got the engine from Ragnar about a year ago-hes about an hour or so away from me- and ended up being much busier than I expected and havent really worked on it for a long time.
So far I have fitted the engine by fabricating mounts, modified bobcat oilpan . Just ordered a bunch of 2.5" stainless exhaust stuff off of ebay. I plan on using the cat section(knock out both cores) and the muffler behind it as it is already bent and in place-and in great shape. I think it drops down to 2" or so tubing after the cat section but the gases should have cooled so maybe it wont choke it too bad. Does this sound reasonable?

Iam sure I will have more questions, but lunchtime is over-got to go.
Thanks everyone.

ahh your making good progress. There seems to be a lot of us northwesterners doing the swap. You should start your own thread tho, before we hijack the "hijack me" thread anymore

Hello everyone, I've been lurking this forum for a little while looking at different ideas for my 91 S10. Its a really tired 2.8 2wd reg cab long bed that's in need of a more efficient power plant. I know I have much to learn about diesel before I'm ready to throw caution to the wind and jump in feet first. However I found this on Craigslist this morning and was wondering if these motors would be suitable for an S10. From what I could find I think they are 2.2 Isuzu motors but was Hoping someone with more experience could shine some light on the subject for me.

Small industrial diesel engines

Thanks

I'm not positive, but I think those are IDI motors. They will work provided you have the skill and ingenuity to adapt them but they won't get the mpg's the DI engine's will. Price is good.
