Chevy C10 Swap Debates
Hey everyone. New here.
I'm looking to build a performance diesel truck for a local nonprofit. I hail from the Mercedes world, and don't have a whole lot of experience with the big American engines.
I'm leaning toward using the 67-72 C10 for my starting point.
I feel like a built and turbocharged 6.2/6.5 hybrid would be the easiest swap in, considering it is a GM product. They're pretty cheap, 400ish pounds lighter than a Cummins, and have a nice selection of transmissions. They do seem to be kind of delicate though.
I'm unsure if a Detroit and make and maintain the kind of power I'd like to make. I don't want to get into things like block filler. In the end, I'd like to be around a 12 sec quarter.
So the debate is: Would a 6bt be worth the extra expense, weight, and work?
