79 gmc k2500 cummins swap
ive been doing my research on swapping a cummins into my 79 k25.
Which cummins should i use a 1st gen or a 2nd gen? which would require less wiring
i want to use a nv4500 would i need a new transfer case as well?
ive also been searching for a comprehensive list of all the things that would be required to do the swap if anyone can help by listing them that would be amazing as i know there are alotta little things that are needed.

A 2nd Gen 24 valve with VP44 pump will require more wiring.
It depends on what model NV4500 you use, and what transfer case and axle combo you use. If you have a Dodge NV4500 (29 spline), you can use a 1st Gen Dodge NP205 (passenger side drop, from behind a Getrag 360 5-speed) and match to the Chevy KP D60 passenger side differential. If you use a driver side drop axle, then the Dodge NV4500 and married NP241 will work. However, if you have a Chevy NV4500 (32 spline) you'll likely need to change the input shaft (assuming it's not the early 6.31 first gear model) and bellhousing (or adapter plate) and pick a 32 spline case to match whatever drop front axle you are using.
Aside from that, you'll need motor mounts and all the plumbing to make the coolant/fuel/AC/exhaust work.

I want to use a chevy nv4500 and change the input shaft and bellhousing but the wouldnt the transfer case that i have work? its a 32 spline so should bolt right up.
My truck has already been upgraded to 1 ton axles and suspension will that been fine to use with the cummins
Ive also seen alot about using the the chevy slave and dodge master cylinder and what clutch and flywheel to use. which ones would you recommend?

The list.
So ive been doing more research and ive got a list of everything ill need if I'm missing something feel free to add.
-1st gen 12v cummins
-chevy nv4500
-dodge nv4500 bellhousing
-dodge input shaft
-dodge bearing retainer
-dodge clutch
-dodge slave/master cylinder
-transmission crossmember moved 3in back
-exhaust
-motor mounts
-wiring
-dual electric fans
-dodge radiator? (would mine work its for a 350)
possibly later on may add an intercooler and piping i will determine that based on how much space i have left.
ill most likely not us the a/c considering my truck doesnt have it already and i manage just fine plus it will give me some extra room
