Default 02 Powerstroke front brakes not releasing

I just replaced all of the brakepads (all four wheels). The back disc brakes seem to work just as intended but the front disc don't want to release. Right after the replacement I drove it at highway speed for about 10 miles and there was some smell but didn't seem like it was more than break-in. Parked the truck for about a month and when I drove it this time I noticed the brakes way too touchy and NO play in the pedal. drove it slowly for about 2 miles and the rotors got hot and it felt like the ABS was trying to work, and the front end wobbled. Tried to find something on here with a search but nothing. I need some tech help.:scare2

Is it just the one front axle or both? Have you tried to flush the brake system yet? May have gotten some air trapped.

both front brakes but not the rear. Did not flush and didn't have to break the lines. would just depressing the pistons for each caliper cause air in the system?

I hope you loosened the bleeder screw before you depressed the calipers. What'll happen, is crap brake fluid gets sent back through the ABS module, and that's really hard on them.

I'd start with the RR caliper, then the LR. RF after that, then the LF caliper. Do a brake system flush, and my guess is, your gonna need at least 2 quarts of brake fluid. Also, I'd do a vac bleed, cause if you attempt to use the pedal, a hose on the bleeder, and a small container with fluid, you may take out the master cylinder (be full of water, rust, etc..).

crap fluid? Its a sealed system... How were the slides and anchor pins? Loose or did you trim/clean them up or just put the new pads in and go?

Fluid does get old, and condensation can form in the master cylinder, brake system.

I understand that but I'v never had "bad" fluid hold brakes on or having air in the system make a touchy pedal... The opposite sure.

Thanks Wildbill and Red Rattler, talked to a brake man at a local garage and he said the same thing, flush the system every 5 years as brake fluid will absorbe water and rust all kinds of things. I will try the vac and clear the system then get new fluid in and a set of new calipers on the front. For Red Rattler, the pins were in pretty good shape and I cleaned them and greased them pretty heavy. Will try the vac, new fluid and new calipers then let you know what I find and how things come out THANKS SO MUCH

Did you have a difficult time installing the calipers? I have seen inexpensive produced to different specs that OEM ie thicker. Or sometimes gvw requires different pads. Also could you have mistakenly twisted the flex hoses causing them to act like a check valve. Does the flex hoses have steel brackets that wrap around the hose?

Your brake man is full of it... There is additives (corrosion inhibitors) in the fluid to prevent the fluid from corroding the brake parts internally... Unless the fluid is blacker than the ace of spades I'd look elsewhere before you go and flush the system.
