LB7 Crank, No Start

LB7 Crank, No Start
I've been towed home twice now. Pull in on a run and she won't restart.
Finally completely dead. Good crank, no start at all. (New batteries, starter)
First recovery I was able to clear all codes and the I/M, ground the pos battery terminal and it ran better than ever. Threw a P0700 and MIL, said transmission controller...
Second event, pulled in. Went to restart, ran for a sec, then dead. Previous tricks no effect.
This time no codes but the I/M is showing an MIS and CCM "X" again. So trouble somewhere...
Suspect a crank or cam position sensors. Possibly the Fuel Pressure regulator.
Also saw video wear a bad ground was the culprit ...
2001, GMC, 2500HD, 4x4, lift pump, 300K miles. Had it a year no issues.
Automatic transmission gear selector on steering column seems worn...
Open to suggestions...
