Last minute entry. How would it look on a white truck???
It would probably look awesome on your white truck.

Are you powder coating a stock chrome bumper?
I'd like to know if I can do this and how well it works out. My stock front bumper is already getting rusty in spots. I think black powder coat might hold up better until I get time to build a new one. -

Unless something has changed since I used to do plating and re-finishing work it would have to be stripped. Even if the powder coat would stick to the chrome plating, if the chrome is already lifting the powder coat would just lift right with it. -

That's what I thought but wasn't sure. The chrome doesn't seem to be lifting like the old bumpers its almost like the chrome is so thin the rust is bleeding through around the tiny rock chips.
I suppose stripping it down is a major PITA
Sorry for being off topic but that stainless tip won't have this problem.... -

Your easiest way out here would be to sandblast it off and have it Rhino lined, or what ever brand you like. Doesn't have to be a smooth finish to coat with it and look great.
The rust spots you have are old rock chips that nicked the Chrome plating and is spreading, it will just keep getting bigger and deeper until you do something to get it out. Rust is a cancer, once it starts it just spreads until you cut it out completely and sandblasting will do this. -
