Default Tube In Tire

My wifes car has a very slight bend in both front rims and the tires have to be aired up about every 4-5 days. I was going to get 2 new ones for the front and the dealer wanted $1000.00 for two fricken rims. For a thousand I would expect tires and rims all the way around. What I was thinking was to put a tube in the front tires but the problem would be the odd size. The wheels are 17". Would this work? It should right? Where do I find a tube? Any ideas. Thanks

Well to be honest I don't think it was the wife, I think my daughter may have done it. Or it could be my youngest who has her permit now and mom takes her driving and I know she has hit the curb practicing her parking skills That's why we don't drive daddy's truck

I can't believe you let your daughters drive around a GTP! Back in high school my bud and I use to raise holy hell in his ma's. You should teach them the fine art of the parking brake lock burnout! Anyways you could probably get away with a tube but heres another cheaper option of the original idea....

I haven't understood the trend to want the bigger wheels and less height in the tires...

put some 14's on it with tires that have taller side walls and lots of air.

Great idea except I need 17" to clear the brakes. I had already thought about 16". Tires are alot cheaper for 16 vs. 17

Well I was told that there is noway I should put a tube in a low profile tire. I was told that it would blow out from excessive friction. I guess it make sense if ya think about it, tubes inflate rounded where low profile tires are more flat if that makes sense

that is true BUT if the inside of the tire is dry and clean if you coat the inside of the tire and the outside of the tube in baby powder then that won't be an issue. that is what we do to drag slicks. when the sidewall wrinkles this keeps the tubes from tearing themselves apart.

i can give you a number of a place that should be able to get you some tubes here local to me. most tire shops won't install them. this shop most of the time keeps them in stock for demo-derby cars.
