I have had good luck with the Garrett BB turbos. They are a bit more expensive but the spool time on them is great! So there is my .02

I would think a phat shaft 62/12 or 62/14 would suite your needs fairly well but Im not to shure Maybe someone will chime in to correct me if Im wrong and give more insight on the subject.

Alligator Performance has a wicked deal on a 62/65/12 right now. I just bought one from them, dont have any first hand experience yet, still waiting on some other parts but its polished housing looks great. My truck is a tow rig first and a toy second thats why I picked this turbo, great towing turbo and will work in a towing twin set later down the road, and you cant beat the price anywhere.

500hp on a Phat Shaft 62 is going to run a little hot. I'd step up to a 64/14

You may also look to High Tech Turbo's HTB2 line. You can get a 62/12/65 (like mine) or 62/14/65 with a cast iron housing or a 62/13/65 in stainless steel. Either can support 500 hp and would make a great "smaller" turbo if you ever decide to upgrade to twins!

I really like mine. Spools just as fast, if not faster than the stocker. Cleans up the smoke way sooner. More mid and top end power and EGT's 200-300 degrees cooler.

I myself would make sure to get a good size exhaust turbine so you don't over-spin it too easy. I like my 62/71/14, but think if your towing heavy a 13cm exhaust housing would be a better deal with an auto less lag. I have not hit the dyno yet with my ddp 110's. But it pushes my truck down the track at 12.92. Should be close to 500.

you don't want to tow at 500HP+, you will want to turn the box down when you tow. 62/71 or 64/65 might be a good option.

My 62/71/14 tows pretty good. I don't have any egt problems with it. Though I turn my box down when I tow.

I actually run hotter going up a hill unloaded as opposed to loaded with it. Mostly because of low boost. Once you load the engine and this thing makes boost it is a monster and sings like a dream.
