17K seems okay to me. Id try and get it a little lower though. These are pretty easy to make power on. Smarty, lift pump, clutch, intake, exhaust is a great way to start

The CR's are really nice when it comes to making power, we make some of the older 2nd and 1st gen guys jealous tho
But my friends 06 he has his tranny built and just went with cold air intake, exhaust, injectors, lift pump, PPE dual CP3's and a smarty stacked with a MP8, and a 64MM turbo and he was dynoing right around 550 HP before the new CP3 but then he went for higher HP and the stock cp3 couldn't keep up at about 600 HP, thats when he added the dual setup. So yes Cr's are VERY easy to make power with. just need cash .

have that exact truck, n am putting down some good power with my upgrades. 17k is a good deal if you ask me.
runnin Edge Juice w/ Attitude CTS monitor either adding a smarty so-6 or tst prgrammer on top of the edge (cuz i wanna try n break it, ). have an AFE stage 2 intake, ATS intake elbow, 4" exhaust, and FASS 150 fuel system. All this contributed to having to replace the stock clutch with a Southbend Dual disk Street clutch, so yes there is some power being built from the motor.
On the list for the near future is 90hp over stock injectors, head studs, bigger turbo/ compounds, exhaust manifold and an upgrade for my cp3
i love the truck a lot and have zero intention of selling it, it will most likely become a strictly sled pulling rig in a couple yrs.
hope this helps
