Default "HeadLight Help"

Hi Guys,

I'm going nuts here, I changed my left head light assembly as it was getting water in it, to which blew my PIAA bulb. Now with the new assembly, the day time running lights work, high beam works, but when I go to put the head lights on the left bulb shuts off. The right side of the truck works fine! I have tried a new PIAA bulb and a stock bulb in the left and both do the same!

I just noticed on the inside the head light switch doesnt light up anymore?? I have checked the fuses and all see fine!
My truck is a 2006??? Someone said it might be the switch?? I can't seem to find anything in the owners manual or shop manual.

Regads,

Hauling!

Get a test light and see if you have power going to your bulb. If not then you have the problem that I recently had. If you didn't disconnect the battery then the TIPM gets confused and doesn't send current. If you don't have juice going to the bulb then the TIPM needs to be reset, ( had mine done at the stealer ). Hope this helps.

Haha yea me too. But check to make sure that you don't have juice at the bulb. If not that sound exactly like my prob. Yea drive in, drive out. Tell them to reset the module but they will probaply charge you the $92 labor charge neway.

No that would probably be a good thing. Meaning you would just have a bad bulb. But since you said that you tried a new PIAA in it n still don't work then it's pretty unlikely

Well, I got lubed today big time, Shop rate $120.00perhour, when I booked my truck in yesterday at the dealer. They said no it will not be the TIPM that is only in the states we here have never had a truck come in for that!!!

Now today, I find out my headlight switch is blown ($193) and now the TIPM is in need of replacement of $1200.00. Ya now I know why I hate STEALERSHIPS!!

Im holding off in hopes it is my headlight switch that is the issue!!

A $1200 TIPM? A dealer quoted me $700 somethin ( I have the quote at home ) for one. Unless stuff is just expensive up there. What do you mean, it won't be the TIPM that is only in the states. Then you say that it may need to be replaced. As far as I know, all dodges our year has the IPM on it.

Yes the TIPM they want $1200.00 for, they also wanted $193 for the switch to turn on the headlights, I had a buddy call a Stealer and I got a new one for $53.00.

With regards to the comment about the TIPM the service dude said nope never seen that up here in Canada that is only a States issue with the amount of trucks down south over up north here!! Bullcrap! All I see is trucks! Dodge Cummins every Gen Dodge has done!

I"m going to try and put the switch in, then maybe do some calls south, as up here the Stealers like to well give it too us!!!!!!

Well keep me informed man. Haven't heard that only canadian trucks don't have a IPM. The module controls alot of the electrical system of the truck interior and exterior lighting. Has to be something controlling it? Good luck and let us know what it turned out to be.
