Default Battery cable melted fuse 42 blown

Ok guys trying to help a friend out on his dodge. He drives a 07 dodge 3500 4x4 stock manual. 5.9 engine. He was driving home then his all the sudden it just dies. Pulls over opens hood notice battery cable melted on the battery post. It melted were the bolt goes through. So buys a new cable replaces it then blows the fuse 42 which it say diesel pcm. The truck will not even try to crank. Checked batteries and starter and they were both good. We tried to cycle the key on and off three times and it will not show nothing no codes. It acts like its not even working at all. I beginning to think its the pcm is fried. Please help. Thank you

yea, it's sounding like the pcm may be fried.
You should probably get the ecm looked at to.
Sounds like there was a power surge that caused the melted cable, but i'm not sure on that part.
