Default 06 ram 3500 no 4th and lock up or no od and lock

while towing over steep grade w/switchbacks no lockup under 30 mi. in drive -tow/haul [unknown at time i could have locked 2nd manually] trans was all over the place flaring in and out of 2nd ... red temp light came on and o/d off light came on [tow haul went off] this happened about 4 -5 times on this grade i eventually disconnected tow and frog leaped them up hill individually. no codes that day. next morning in town on level driving the trans would not shift out of 2nd untill 3500rpm to 3rd. then check engine light came on and gave me the gov solenoid code. I replaced that w/ borg warner. and stock transducer sensor. this corrected 1-2-3... and shifts nicely. pulls hills nice and locks in 3rd. and 2 if i manually select at console... but no overdrive. ive read forums and hear about all these electrical issues, bad ground, mystery switches etc... there are no new codes, old ones are cleared, can you help me please... .thanks in advance. transmission shops are useless, they act like they dont know about scan features and all suggest a 2500 rebuild. without looking into any of these electrical sensor issues. i know they think they can fix quick within 200 and are hoping its a wire, but wont tell me.

I called them this morning. wow, what a relief to speak to someone willing to consider whats wrong. most trans shops will lean on the car and smell the fluid before giving me a 3000.00 rebuild quote.

He thinks its the overdrive piston seal. he described a situation where it overstrokes and functions while driving but next roadtrip will shear metal and seal is lost. I may have not understood completely, if its a new piston, or simply a o-ring seal??? i dont know.

He described method to determine. first check pressure at a port above coolant lines on drivers side of trans case [48re] drive it try to get 4th to engage by driving to 60mi plus. he said I should get 100psi if computer commanded 4th [od] AND piston functioned properly.
he said if Im getting nothing [no psi] then, confirm computer is commanding 4th via scanner while driving. if it is then trace wiring looking for shorts.
If after road test I get 20 - 50+ psi then piston seal is compromised.

That's why they are the best! I had that happen to mine it's an easy fix! You only have to drop the OD section "rear"
