Default Upgrades

Just looking for some input. I am still somewhat new to diesels. I am about to upgrade to and airdog 150, 125 or 150 nozzles and getting rid of the hy35 for an hx40 that will be gated around 36-38psi since i don't have studs yet. My truck is an automatic with a dual disk converter, billet shafts and an upgraded valve body, also has 4 inch exhaust, free flowing intake, and an edge comp box. I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on this setup and how much i will feel these since truck is mostly stock. Thanks

Those nozzles will wake the truck up a good bit, and the AirDog will help save the fuel system. HX40's are known for weak shafts, but they typically fail when over sped A LOT. Wastegating will help prevent over speeding.

Have gauges yet? Would be a darn good idea.

Yeah, i have pyro, boost, and fuel pressure gauges. I have heard of the hy35/hx35/hx40 breaking shafts when barked and being over spooled easily but a better turbo is a bit out of my price range, so i figured taking care of this one will be okay for now haha. I plan on updating my sig. with all of my info as soon as i find the damn thing hahaha

User CP, click on that and then on Edit Signature.

I'm running a HX35/40, it's doing pretty good an isn't half the cost of a brand name performance turbo.

Got it! Do you know anyone running the 40 with some extra fuel? i've heard that they lag more than the 35s, but i figured with 150hp nozzles there shouldnt be too much lag. Also wondering if they scream more than the 35s??? Thank you for the info too.

It'll naturally be more laggy than the hy35... bigger turbo = more lag. But with 150 nozzles you should pretty much eliminate that problem. Atleast for the most part haha
