Question TURBO???

I have the stock turbo on my truck now with a 4 in down pipe. I have a bigger turbo for it that i was told will make 40 psi of boost easy. If i install the bigger turbo is there any negative affects on my motor? Do i need to install an intercooler? Any ideas?

first off which turbo do you have to put on the truck? that will help us answer your question a lot better.

40psi isn't much of an upgrade over the h1c when I had mine I got it to peak at 32psi but there are a lot more aspects to a turbo then just boost pressure

Hey, sorry to get back to you guys so late, been dealing with my transmission, Its the turbo off the 2nd gen, I could get it to above 40 psi, but i have heard you need to do stuff to the motor when you get higher boost.

I've been running a 2ndgen turbo (HX35) for a couple years. So far so good. Spools nice and fast which is great with the 5spd.

Hx35 isn't a MAJOR upgrade but it definitely is still an upgrade. Some will prob disagree but 40psi is about all you want to be pushing without head studs. The Hx35 that was on my old truck only made 27lbs due to the fact that it was wastegated. And if you don't like the wastegate, you can always plug it

Oh and like u2slow said, its gonna spool a lot faster with a 5spd.
