turbo housing
Hello everybody. I am new to this forum and I have a 93 5.9 IC with an auto transmission. I got an hx35 with a 12cm housing from a buddy and I am having a 60mm billet wheel installed right now. My question is can anybody tell me whether or not I can run my 16cm non waste gated housing that is currently on the truck? I live up at Lake Tahoe and pull trailers up some pretty big hills so I would like to keep my egt's as low as possible. I have a 4" exhaust on her already. Thanks

Hey thanks for the response. The 12cm did just bolt right up, except for a 1/2" coolant line, and works great. I put on a 28lb wastegate for now until I replace my headgasket. With my current injectors I have only hit 20lbs of boost anyhow, at least I think that's the reason.
If egt's are too high while towing I'll figure something out.
The bottom line is that this turbo blows the doors of my old h1c.
Thanks

I drilled a 3/4" hole in the scroll divider through the wastegate opening. I didn't try my Hx35 before, but I'm certainly not disappointed. I can hit 1000* quite easy, but hard to get over 1200*. Thats with 5x0.012 injectors, and maybe 1 or 2 turns on the fuel screw - towing occasionally.

What brand of injectors did you get? That is the size I am going to use. I did not drill out my divider, but I thought about it. I think I'll do it when I replace the head gasket.
My new turbo runs cooler than the old one. With the H1c my temps would jump up to 1200 easy with overdrive on and drop way down with OD off. The new turbo does not get up to 1100 and when I disengage overdrive it only drops about 100. So it runs cooler and there is way less temperature swing. This new turbo sounds amazing too.

I drilled my HX35 before even trying it. Made sense to do it. I convinced myself it would bleed off excessive boost faster on the fwd 3 cylinders. Although, I have nothing to compare against.
