92 w250 budget build
so i picked up this truck awhile ago for 1500$ it needs a tranny the steering is shot along with the rockers and a few small things that could be ignored but won't be for the most part

so i started by helping pull my transmission i'm off work on wcb right now after having carpal tunnel surgery so really i just grabbed tools then dropped the transmission off for a rebuild it was going to be a friend deal but after 3 weeks he hasn't touched it so i happened to find a remanufactured napc tranny with about 10,000 km out of a wrecked truck and i now have a spare to build or a core to sell
i ordered a ton of parts this week so the build should start moving after everything gets here
repair/maintnance parts ordered
tie rod ends
center link
upper and lower king pin repair kits
tierod sleeve
water pump (didn't need it but figured i would replace it while the trucks apart)
upper and lower radiator hoses (didn't actually need but there cheap)
fan clutch
thermostat
oil pan gasket
valve cover gaskets
and a ignition cylinder (i currently use a wrench)
i'll buy the last few parts locally
performance related parts ordered
kdp kit from Geno's Garage
m2 fuel pin (only one they had in stock i wanted a m3 or m4)
b&m 70297 tranny cooler with a big *** fan
derale 14210 deep transmission pan
autometer pyro and boost gauges i'll be getting a trans temp gauge very soon
ok so all those parts are on the way
is there anything else i should look into while i have it apart i was looking at maybe doing a bolt in rear freeze plug but cant decide if it's needed
from what i was told i have aftermarket injectors but i don't know how to tell
it has 4'' exhaust and a asa modified intake allready so besides playing with the power screw and a 3200 governor spring
after it's on the road i'll look at upgrading or replacing my turbo if needed unless there's a easy/cheap upgrade i can afford now
i'll probally tow once in awhile under 8,000lbs other than that it will be used as a work truck

so i got the kdp kit in on the weekend along with a new water pump new radiator hoses and fan clutch so while i had the radiator out i took it and had it cleaned out and the lower hose fitting needed to be resoldered we also pulled the oilpan cleaned it out and resealed it we also changed the rear main seal that fell apart when we touched it i don't think i will ever change the oilpan gasket without at least lifting the engine a few inches first getting the pickup tube unbolted and reinstalled was not fun
then on monday night we got the transmission in refilled all the fluids and started the truck i put in gear and nothing happened so we disconnected the shifter linkage we were then able to find neutral and all the forward gears but no park or reverse it was late so we went home now tomorrow night we want to figure out the problem i do know the truck the transmission was in had front end damage from a accident but it had only been on the road for a month or two after a full restoration and the transmission was built during the resto so does anyone have a idea on what could be wrong the only idea we have at this point is that the shift lever on the trans slipped in the accident and we can't get park or reverse because the lever is hitting the case
