Default tranny troubles....yay

trying to figure this out less tahn a year ago i bought a tranny from one of the guys at the diesel shop it has brand new internals (hd billet rebuild kit) a used goerend 3d tc and the old goerend valve body and a new billet input, now i was driving on the highway and my lock up switch wasnt seeming to make a difference although i did notice the only difference it made rpm wise was while i was decending it kept the rpms up a bit but i could slow to a stop with it "locked up" and no stall or anything, while driving rpms spiked at shift points and i pulled over called a buddy then went to put it back in gear and it wouldnt go in gear at all i shut it off called him back he was about to come pick me up with his trailer but i turned it back on and it slammed right into gear for the first 10-20 seconds that its on it will shift and go into 1st or 2nd on command but after that i have like no gear no power nothing... any ideas?
