Default is there something i can fix or are these trucks really this slow

my truck is just a pain in the *** to drive on the highway, it moves great around town but to maintain a reasonable highway cruise i have to run with the pedal just a hair from the floor. the truck has 4.10s and 35s, 5 speed, and it does about 85mph pedal to the floor at 2800rpms. i love the truck but i have to question all the hype about these trucks, when i come up to a hill pulling a trailer or even empty the truck slows down and i have to dig deeper into the pedal, when i want to pass someone i have to floor it, if im doing 80mph iv got nothing left to pass anyone with... my old half ton chevy did better even back when it was basically a stock truck on 35s.

yea i wanted to do the governer spring and do the valve springs as well, but i just know i wont have the money for it any time soon... its also hard to get the motivation to work on a truck that always runs, i bought this truck so i could stop wrenching on my truck every other day . i know it would make a world of difference since the fuel tapers off around 2200 on the stock governer spring and my problem is my highway cruise is around or past that, thats what gives me the lack of pedal feel on the highway.

the truck just got alot of tlc actually, i just did the kdp, timing seal, resealed the valve covers, oil change, fuel filter, ect. its a healthy motor. it makes 35 pounds of boost, the tubo has no play at all and is in great shape overall, it has no no fuel plate, afc housing all the way forward, star wheel maxed out, its got a 5" exhaust and a k&n filter and thats about it, pretty typical of what youd see in any ole 12v.

my buddy just bought a truck identical to mine, it was one i was going to buy before i bought mine actually, he wouldn't come off the price enough for me. single cab long bed, 5spd 4x4, same size tires, i mean this truck is IDENTICAL, the only difference is the color and he has a cargo light and cruise(which im jealous of). and it will outrun my truck. and his turbo isnt even turned up, just a 0 plate and star wheel turned up. the trucks run pretty similar side by side but he does edge me out everytime and he says he can do over 90mph. he also has 4.10s. and yes it is a 94, should both have 185hp pumps.

i think my clutch is just shot?

hey man im in the same boat but my smoker is definately not perfect. im actually running on 5 cylinders and i have a stock tranny with 333,000 miles on it. i got 215hp injectors, intake and exhaust with a little tuning to the afc pushing 26 pounds and im running 85 mph no problem still making it from houston, tx to pensacola, fl on one tank of fuel. so your problem may lie within the beast or you just got a dud
