^^^ Listen up 12vpr. whatever this guy tells you, believe. My own opinion is that a novice has no business working the innards of a pump.

I wouldnt do it, unless you are bosch certified and have the proper tools for the job. No normal mechanic can attack this job. Because there are very tight tolerances! There was 2 guys up in town, that tore their pump apart and after everything was said and done. The truck didn't run. If i was you, i would probably sent it to BD or shied (spelling) or atleast a well known pump builder. I know theres a place in Salam, VA they rebuild injection pump and bench test them too.(they rebuild pumps from CAT If you need their number, ill give it to you if your interested)

its got a miss it sounds like. i was going through and cleaning the top half of of the fuel system (injectors, fuel lines and dv's) and i pulled the dv at the back of the pump and i think when i pulled it, i think a little piece of something fell down in there and clogged something up. i ran diesel kleen through it, a few times, and i put a quart of tranny fluid in with the fuel everytime i fill up. nothing. its been doing this for the past 4 or 5 months. but it still runs like a champ. i just lost some power and spool time.

Well if its a miss, usually a injector problem. And did you check the fuel pressure on it?

x2 on the injector problem causing a miss you can check your injectors by cracking the injector nuts, are you sure something fell in there?
