Better MPG in a TDI.

Looking at geting a TDI. I dont know the better years of those cars nor do I know what the better parts are to put on for better MPGs outa one of those. What are yall getting stock and what are some of the better mods for MPG and reliability for those cars? Thanks guys!

MPG?
- Don't use wide tires. One dimension smaller gives you the extra mpg you are craving for.
- slow down to decrease wind resistance
- EGR delete( difficult due to the MAF)
- getting rid of extra weight( spare tire)

Reliability?
- Do not neglect oil changes on TDI's.

Stock these cars will do low 40's around town, mid-high 50's on the highway with the 5spd. My car all modded out will do a consistent 50mpg city, 58mpg going 7mph over the speed limit, often times touching almost 80mph. When driven 55mph, I'll get about 63-64mpg.

It's a diesel.. so typical mods apply for economy. Sticks, tune, exhaust, down pipe, bigger turbo etc.
