Ideas on leaking 1981 Rabbit diesel 1.6 injection pump

Noticed diesel showing up on my 81 pickup's engine today, running down the engine block behind the pump. From left side as facing engine, 2nd vicinity.

I have never taken the pump off ... and really don't look forward to doing so due to the re-install problems and settings ... but with the NEW leak, have to consider options .... and what need to do.

Am thinking of taking it to shop, but thought would check for solution ideas.

I did, with flash light, see a theaded nut sitting on a ledge ... ones like is used with the connection of the pump in that vicinity. Apparently it had been previously dropped ... and just never fingered out, since all 4 plugs are A=OK.

The leak is just enough to run down to the spill pan on the floor; no gushing or squirting out ... APPARENTLY.

What might this represent???
Thanks for your input.

You're going to have to pull the pump to fix that. IIRC, may be some sort of a little cover with an o-ring seal in that vicinity. Probably best to re-seal the whole pump while you're at it.
