the end of 2.8 now what

well it looks like all the big groups are ending the 2.8 class, i figure there will still be plenty of 2.8 pulls in MO for 2011 but i'm thinking very seriously about goin a different route...i could pull with midsouth down around memphis and there rules are very different and i'm allready in there highest class being a hood stacked 2.8 truck so running with them i could run twins and some other things which that would put me in open diesel in alot of the MO pulls but most of the open pullers are 2.8 trucks anyways so do i stay 2.8 and pull where i can or do i go the twin route or step up to a 3.0

what do yall think i should do?....going back to 2.6 is not an option because the truck is too far gone

i'm kinda thinkin twins just for the fact they would make so much more power at the end of the track

i would say try to run local and a class that fits you. our rules are different than other places. we try and hold the budget down. its all about fun anyway. we have a street mod diesel class that we put a limit 2.6. and then we have a open class with 1 ton stuff and single chargers. we allow nitrous in this class.

we could fab up a 6 individual stock turbos :humm: one for each cylinder

why not go with a 3.0 charger set up and have a bushing made for your 2.8 pulls?

Red_Rattler 01-09-2011 04:02 PM

twin 3.0 :w2: local truck here run that setup in the twin class... But I agree single 3.0 and bushing. Why limiti yourself to where you can pull by putting twins on

Billet wheel :tu:

i allready have a 2.8 bushed turbo...i could pull the bushing and run 3.0...but i'm looking to change turbos anyways...the rules are screwy here anyways...part of the reason that i built the truck the way i did in the first place...to get to the 2.8 class pulls would be a 3 hr drive every weekend...if i keep pulling around here (less then 3 hr drive) then i end up pulling open anyways because there wont be enough diesel's to have multiple classes...the only place less then 3 hrs away that has a decent turn out of diesel trucks would be midsouth and i know there are 2 twin trucks in there class 4 which is where i'm allready at...the only places that i'd be going that the twin's would be a problem would be rogersville for the blackout series...and i'm not planning on taking it to TS or Scheids because it wouldnt be a competive truck even in the old 2.8 class there

what would you need to do to drop down to 2.6?

cummin_un_glued 01-09-2011 06:39 PM

that would depend alot on where i was pullin...it has no tags...hood stack...hand throttle...it does still have the interior tho all 3 seats and the dash
