4-Low vs. 4-High
 
Ok, anybody got comments on what works best, I have heard about the same for both, is it better to pull a sled in 4-low or 4-high???

Ive always been told to pull in 4 low, the reason behind it is that they claim it puts too much stress on the drivetrain in 4 high, and 4 low will get ya more bottom end pull too.

it depends on what kind of truck you got.......if its a stock truck......low side/low gear......if you got a dedicated truck or a powerful truck you can run the high side or low side and depending on what gear in the tranny you use.......it will speed up or slow down your tires.......some guys run high side 2nd or low side 3rd depending on tracks.....i know some guys running low side 4th if they are on the right track and the truck can make the power.......

Great advice, I have a few upgrades to do yet before I even attempt it with my 03 GMC, like Tie rod sleeves, are there any better than Cognito, or would they be the best to go with?

not real sure ive heard of other guys runnin them but definately do that before ya pull ive seen way to many people with their tires facin the wrong way.

yeah I thought so, there was a video posted not loang ago showing a D-max pull a Dodge, by hookin chains and even though the Max did ok, he broke up front...

take your torsion bar bolts completely out if you got small enough tires........on the tie rods....no matter what company you go with.....make sure you get extra adjuster nuts......cause you will break or bend the aftermarket tie rod at the exposed threads.......it happens everytime.......build you a set of traction bars and bumpstops too....

if you love your tranny stay on the low side unless the track is extremely muddy or loose sand type. i run 4th-low on 90% of tracks with good clay, when its loose soil or muddy and i know im just gonna blow the tires off, go with 2nd high range for a tad more wheel speed and you know the traction is not there to bust the drivetrain.

when you run in low range (dodge has a 2.72:1 reduction ratio in the tcase) so that puts 2.72 times less tq on the tranny. i dunno how the ZF-6 is strength wise but i know there are more dodges that have grenaded nv5600's and G56's running 2nd gear high range vs. 4th gear low range due to this simple principle of tq reduction.

Oh and you are lucky to have a 2.72:1... Us 1st gen pullers have to fight a 1.9:1 TC. :argh:
