Want to build a pulling truck

So I want to build a pulling truck. I have a 97 F350 crew cab long box 7.3 E4OD 4x4 Dana 60s and a 78 F250 reg cab long box 460 4spd 4x4 busted Dana hp44 and 60 rear. I plan to run a P pumped DT466. What truck would be better? Should I run Dana 60 axles? Rockwell 2.5s? Transmission options? Thanks guys.

run a dodge with a cummins. i just ran this weekend. since my gmc didnt come with a cummins they put me in the modified class even though i had a stock motor. i did a little bitching asking why i wasnt running with a 89 dodge but i had to run with a 24v and two duramaxs that where chipped, no way in hell i could do anything against them. but i was little engine that could and i failed lol

if im not mistaken, the dt466 is to big to use unless you pull for show only. a dana 60 will not hold up behind a diesel pulling. a dana 70 wont hold up long behind a slightly higher horse diesel. dana 80 is about the largest you can go unless your wanting to pull against the 2000hp trucks.

the crew cab long be would be best if your just wanting something to play with. it will meet the work stock class.

it really just depends on how much money you want to spend.

good luck :tu:

I have a dodge with a Cummins. 2 actually. I want to run in the outlaw class I think. So when I turn up the DT I will rip apart any production axle then? I'm kind of leaning towards the 78 because it has no electronics and lots of engine bay and needs new axles anyway. Would the Cree cab really have that much of an advantage?
