pulling a bobcat.

Hey guys, My father in-law doesnt think much of my truck. I know there are Chevy,Dodge and Ford fans. My father in-law is alway putting not just my truck but anything I do down, my point is no matter which make I owned it wouldn't be good enough.Well he recently asked me to pull his Bobcat up to Brusy Mountain where he is part of a hunting club. He told me to drop his bobcat off at the bottom and he would drive it up. He said his jeep honcho wouldnt it just bogs down, so there is no way my truck can.I honestly can't argue with the man , because I do not know what the pulling limit is for my truck. So is he right or is he just bashing me again? The road is gravel.

tiremann9669 08-25-2010 05:43 PM

Put it in 4x4 and Stand on it ! :c:

:tu:

brindle_bull 08-25-2010 06:40 PM

dont over guess that jeep honcho cuz they were some climbing beasts....but with that aside your truck out weighs it twice and has a little lower gearing and a hell of alot more low end torque than he does so im with tireman...put in 4 and give er hell till your at the top :yeah: and say "heres your kitty, bob" lol

JEREMYP 08-25-2010 06:50 PM

make sure 2 put most of the weight on ur truck or u mite spinout

CreeperSleeper 08-26-2010 12:19 PM

I agree, you do not want to start spinning tires!

jumpnjed 08-26-2010 12:33 PM

Dont let him talk crap, show him what that thang can do. Im with the rest, pit her in 4X4 and let her rip...Id air the tires down a lil if it was me...

DB Admin 08-26-2010 12:36 PM

if he treats you like crap , then when he asked you to pull his bob cat i would of told him to go pound sand.

4x4DREAMER 08-26-2010 04:26 PM

LOL, I agree. He is one of those you dont see often but when you do he has his way of making you feel like your on a lie detector machine. Anything I would say is he would turn it back around and make me feel like I dont know anything about anything. For example; If I where to say diesels where built to pull heavy loads. He would say how do you know? What have you pulled and then he would through in some facts from his past that he cant proof,But knows I wouldnt say anything about because I am not well versed in the capabilities of truck engines. All in al he doesnt bother me I for the most part just ignor his comments, but he wants me to pull that bobcat and I knew I could find out from you guys if I had a chance in hell of proving him wrong for once.:c: Thanks for all the responses

DB Admin 08-26-2010 04:35 PM

I don't like this guy already.

CreeperSleeper 08-26-2010 07:15 PM

Me neither... He reminds me of my ex-father-in-law. What an ass.

jumpnjed 08-27-2010 08:14 AM

If you have a problem im not but 45 minutes from you and ill come down with my 96 cummins and haul that thang to the top for him for a small fee...:tttt::rocking:..Then ill just say :moon:...:scare2:

Budgreen 08-27-2010 10:18 AM

how steep if the road etc? if you can maintain traction you can take 4hi (or 4lo if it's real steep) and just walk it right up...

apparently the little j-truck thing is more powerful than the diesel to him? :argh:

01d-max 08-27-2010 01:18 PM

and if all else fails, just remember your bangin his daughter at the end of the day :D

4x4DREAMER 08-28-2010 08:25 AM

lol Thats so true....Well, when He lets me know the day,I will jump on here and let you guys know how it went..:c:

4x4DREAMER 09-06-2010 08:55 PM

Well guys, I pulled his bobcat to the base of the mountain, but he refused to let me try and take it up.We unloaded it at the bottom and he drove the bobcat up. So I guess I will never know if I could have done it or not..But then again he cant say that it wouldnt either....I geuss I can live with that.

diesel pap 09-06-2010 09:05 PM

a gravel hill can fool you. if you do spin out, you wont be able to hold the truck. he might be just jokin with you.

4x4DREAMER 09-07-2010 12:29 PM

Yeah you maybe right. We never got along from the moment he met me. But here lately he seems to have toned it down alot and just asking me for help was very unexpected. But maybe he is trying be better. Still after 10 years of bull its not easy to just be buddy, buddy yea know.

diesel pap 09-07-2010 12:45 PM

10 years is a long time for sure.

01d-max 09-07-2010 05:33 PM

was there a back story to why he didnt like you? cause thats aweful shitty if hes just made cause you banging his daughter haha

motorboat 09-07-2010 06:37 PM

No one was ever good enough for my girl, thats just the way some old guys are. Shes been married to a fine man for 15 years with no problems that I know of.

It was only my pride that kept me being a prick for too many years. We finally had a beer on the porch one afternoon, fact is: a couple of them. I kinda apolgized and he said that as he got older and my grandaughter got older, that he sorta understood my prickiness.

Things are pretty cool now. I know because my daughter gets the ass at both of us when we do stuff together. :c:

Well my wife's mother and her dad got a divorce when she was young and her brother went to live with the mother and she stayed with her dad. Her dad remarried,Her stepmother I believe is at the root of all this never cared much for my wife. The stepmother had two sons and she did everything for them and her dad spent alot of time with them hunting and fishing and such. Well when I started dateing my wife her stepmom acted kind of wierd. Then I later found out when we had gotten engaded that her stepmom had made up a couple of stories about me and was running me down as much as she could. Now why she did this I have no idea, but on our wedding night the stepmom asked my wife if she was sure she wanted to go through with this. Her stepmothers sister go in on the act and just flat out asked her why are you marring him for. Well after leaning all this I just never go around them because of the two faced people they where. Well I have often wondered what kind of stories she has told my wifes dad about me. I know of a few but its just hard telling what all has been said. So yes there is a long history behind this and maybe after all these years her dad is seeing through some of the lies:humm:. Anyways it just hard to say.:c:

01d-max 09-07-2010 10:13 PM

yeah that sucks. maybe her dad will eventually see through all the shit and see what the truth is. and to the sisters and stepmom :fu2::numb::fu:

4x4DREAMER 09-08-2010 11:50 AM

I couldnt say it better myself.:c:

CreeperSleeper 09-09-2010 01:21 PM

It sucks that you didn't get to try the hill but all in all I think it was for the best. The way it went down is the best way it could have for you and your father-in-law to have a good relationship down the line. Anything else would have gave him another thing to look down on you for. Keep your chin up and let your actions speak for you. I know how hard it is (my family is exactly as you described) but you can handle it! :c:

diesel pap 09-09-2010 04:25 PM

keep your chin up bud:tu:
