Burning Up Transmissions

Anybody out there have recomendations for automatic transmission rebuilds that will hold up in a 2000 7.3L Superduty with a TS Chip towing 23,000 lbs up and down some nasty grades in the Sierra's? Having my second rebuild installed in just 2 years. I am using the 50 HP program when towing and run in the 100HP setting when not pulling. Seems its the torque converter that is pooping out. Anyone else having burning up automatic transmissions with a TS Chipped 7.3L Super Duty? What have you done to alleviate the Problem? Help!!!

are you still running the stock converter?? i'd give dave a call at http://www.goerend.com/transmissions.php pretty sure he can help. i don't think you'll find a better price/warranty out there.

+1 for Dave. if he can't do anything for a powerstroke then i bet he can refer you to someone who can. but if he can build it then it'll be the last converter you will EVAR need......

there's a guy in missouri...or mississippi...one of the two. brian's trucks or something like that. he's supposed to be really good with ford trannies. been to his website but damned if i can find the link now.

ATS, is the best. 5 clutch discs in the converter and a lower stall speed, 3 yr, 150k warranty.

That is definitely a debatable point. Ive heard more bad than good about ATS...

There are lots of good options for trannys.

Ya there are lots of stories out there, but my opinion is my own through experience. I have been running ATS products for over 7 years now and Have never had a problem with them. I run my truck at the track and it has done it's share of towing with a 36' triple slide trailer too. Dyno's at over 450 HP too. Any time I call with a question they have kindly answered and never made me feel like there was a rush to get me off the phone. So what has your own experience been??? or are you just quoting rumors?

I put in a Gorend at 116 then went to 216 and rung the main shaft, don't let it shift in lockup with a Gorend torque converter, Dave sent another converter for the rebuild as he said the old one may have some metal in it . I'm 243k now and going strong taking a little easier on the old tranny but I tow 24k including the truck most every weekend . by the way the torque converter was free I paid shipping which was $100 bucks
1996 dodge dually , no 6 plate 4x4 goerend tripple lock , emerald green , 243k and 11 years .
