2007 Duramax 2500 Will It Pull A 37ft Weekend Warrior Safely?
 

i have a 2007 duramax 2500 it is lifted 6 inches and has 35 inch tires. i have a bully dog power pup. i currently tow a 23 ft warrior but am looking at a 37 ft. fully loaded it is about 15000 lbs. will my truck be ok towin this with the big tires?? i was not sure. does anyone else tow something this big with a 2500 duramax?? thanks guys.

How are your temps now? I have never even driven a Dmax but other than the few with the over heating, I have heard they tow great. I would say as long as you dont have the DL cranked al the way up you should be fine but I'm sure some Dmax guys can help a little better than me.

The problem your gonna have with the truck height is in cornering and stopping with heavier trailers. The taller you are the more top heavy you are and when your going into curves or corners that trailer weight is gonna push the truck more into a roll then usual, it's gonna lean and get pushed over. This is especially bad with in bed hitches because it put's even more weight higher on the center of gravity. A loy of guys do it and get away with it, I'm sure they will jump in here. But they are a rollin time bomb just waitin for something unexpected to happen. With over 10 years in the trailer business and a lifetime of haulin farm trailers I have seen some dangerous setups rollin down the highways. I keep two different sizes of tires around for my truck, 31" and 33" and even between those sizes I notice a big difference in how the trailers push me when I'm stopping and how they corner on the highways.

As Pete talked about, the larger tires also affect the gear ratio on the truck to. You lose a lot of low end torque so EGT's may be a problem, especially using a controller. You may have to turn it off while your towin or put it on a lowest setting if it's adjustable. In the end, if your being safety minded you will have to decide if you want the jacked up show truck that looks good or a truck that is set up to use, one truck can't affectively be both. Man am I gonna stir up a hornet's nest with that statement.:scared2::scared2::se:

I seen trucks like this all the time (funny enough most are lifted duramaxes actually) back home in southern CA that seem to do fine. I am no trailer/towing guru, but I am sure Uncle Bubba knows what he is talking about with his above statement and expereience. Most people I seen back home were kids around my age (driving mommy & daddy's money on wheels).

Hope you can get this figured out, though to me personally, 6" of lift on 35's doesnt sound like a horrible combo, heck, most the trucks I seen back home were like 8-14" lift rollin 37-44" tires, lookin rediculous in my mind, for tow rigs at least.

haha. im 15. and the rig is my dads. the trailer is for me and my bro. my parents are preety sikk. they only bought the truck and trailer cas me and my bro ride motocross. its easier to have a big rig when ur stayin over night. and no, i dont have a hot sis. lol

Ah nevermind then. lol well I am sure the guys here can get ya'll advised on what is good and whatnot, in MY (dont take my word, I dont tow anything for the most part) opinion, 6" of lift on 35's shouldnt be so horrible for towing that, but I am sure people with more experience might have a better answer to your questions :j:

I agree with Bubba's last statement. Use the right vehicle for the job.

IMO - A 6" lifted 3/4 ton aint the right vehicle.
