If the atmosphere isnt just so dosent happen. I was talking that far ( see my prev post a couple up) this spring had good conditions for shootin skip almost every night for about 2-3 months almost from east to west and north to south cool stuff right there. And the important thing about radios is not just having a "BIG" radio but the antenna if you want to get out spend the money and buy a good antenna and they also work better if you can centrally mount it in the center of the vehicle. The vehicle acts as a ground plane and helps radiate the radio wave out more front to back and side to side nothing to block it. Just some thoughts on CB'in

Well guys, I've got a good single antenna that's mounted in the center of the bed right behind the cab. I'm also runnin a 225 linear. It does alright, and is supposed to boost reception as well. I understand unless somebody else is talkin with a "big" radio that it doesn't really matter cuz they can't get back to you. I'd love to run a big 1000W linear, but they're expensiv and I wouldn't know how to match it to my radio. But blkjack, how do you know when your conditions are good to talk on skip, and if you're recieving it, shouldn't you be able to get back to whoever is transmitting?

There is alot of traffic on all most every channel especially 19 (most popular) you need to get to one that you can hear someone talkin on and try to get out most times i say most you can get them there was some skip going on tonight earlier bout 6 when i got home from work didnt get on the radio though was on DB :rocking: most of the night so didnt try might check tomorrow night and see but to answer your question with the set up you have you should have no prob gettin out. As long as everything is matched and tuned right. What part of the country you in? that some times changes some things like me i live in a big a$$ valley in colorado so has some advantages and some not being high is good but being in a bowl sucks. Well if you want some help with it PM me and will see what i can do to help you out.:c:

because it's not tuned right and putting out garbage, a properly tuned setup won't interfere with anything.

as for skip, just a half a mhz up in the 10 meter ham band (yes im licenced) I talked all over south america on 5-10W

Are you talkin on a 10 meter or on SSB freq ? reason im askin is that i have a cobra 200gtl DX that i did a CB freq mod on and use that as a base with a antron a99 and talk on LSB on it back east alot and out to calif. heard some jamaca for awhile but havent really got out of the states other than mexico but cant understand those guys anyways. So I didnt know if you were talkin on the bigger 10 meter radios or on Ham stuff. Just curious Next to diesels radios are my other enjoyment dont have too much fancy stuff or big radios but have fun DX'n though.:c:
