Carli Backcountry suspenion/comparable kits
 

Fellow Bombers,

I've got an 06' ram 2500 with what I believe to be either a leveling kit or a mild lift and I want to take it all off and actually replace it with a good suspension set up. I've been looking at the carli backcountry because I had a friend recommend it, but quite frankly, I think their stuff is a little overpriced...but I could be wrong.

Other than Carli, I'm looking for some fellow bombers that have suspension kits, love them and would recommend them. I'd like to run a set of 35's, maybe 37's and have the ability to get back into the woods and get back out, nothing really extreme. This will of course involve mud, snow, loose rocks and the likes, but again nothing hardcore.

There are so many kits out there, I think it's really going to come down to some good ol' customer feedback on this forum that'll help me out. I am going to tow every once in a while, I was think about an airbag setup in the back, so any thoughts and opinions would also be appreciated in this category as well.

I have always just run a coil spacer because i dont care how it rides lol Any long arm kit would do wonders for your truck! Im pretty sure they are still cheaper than a Carli suspension set up too :tu:

do a long arm but dont go crazy on the size. 4-6 inch. make sure the kit comes with a pitman arm and perferably the dodge steering stabilizer cross bar. for the rear get aftermarket springs. depending on how much you tow go quite small on the GVW of the springs then air bag it. this is so the truck will flex very well with the bags deflated but when you hook up to a trailer you can pull what you want. go like half ton spring weight ratings with the appropriate amount of lift. same for the front coil springs if your gonna bag it all the way around. you will like this SO much more if you wheel your truck. look into at least a rear locker. this IMO is a must for any off roading anywhere!

X2 on the rear springs! An all leaf spring lift will work SO much better than stacking the blocks like most lifts do! Turbo is right... Springs combined with a long arm will flex unbelievably off road :tu::tu::tu:

Could you tell me more about the Carli suspension you have? What system did you go with, pintop 2.5 etc.? Is it the actual 6" lift, or did you go with the 3"?

I'm currently looking at the pintop 2.5, or the backcountry, what are your thoughts on these two set-ups? The truck is a daily driver and will be used for hunting and fishing type off-roading, really nothing super extreme, but could see some good bumps, holes, mud, etc.

This truck has there 6" kit on with the 3.0 Kings. It's a pretty crazy truck and would be overkill for 99% of the people out there.

For what your looking for both ride very well. The difference is the back country is more suited for an entry level offroader. The shocks ride super nice on the street but over time can fade if your really hard on the truck. The 7100's are another good choice that use a valvable shock, meaning that if you find yourself wanting more dirt qualities they can be valved foir your needs. The BackCountry are done only one way from Bilstein.

The King 2.5 is a great shock. It's a jump in performance. I like to mention this shock because it's the ideal all around shock. With it having Carli's trick piston inside the diameter of this shocks allows for a fair more greater offroad performance. The diamater of both the shock itself and the remote resivour allow the shock to keep extremely cool.

Any of them are a great shock. sometimes it's a nat's hair on the difference so it almost comes down to budget. I dont want to recommend a shock thats to small and then you go out and find yourself bottoming out the front end all the time or to big of a shock to where you think it was a waste of money.
