Good Suspension Setup?
 
Ok so as some of you may have seen, I bought a Cummins recently thats going under the knife this winter... I pretty much know what I wanna do as far as engine performance, but I'm a little lost on suspension. The truck is gonna be a daily driver that will haul a small gooseneck horse trailer (22 feet) and occasionally hit the tug pad and maybe pull a sled once or twice a year. I'm thinking some adjustable/removable suspension stops, some traction bars (or ladder bars? whichever the long ones on the front side of the axle are) and maybe a sway bar for a little more stability going down the road. Does this sound like a good plan? Is there anything else I should consider or watch out for when doing all of this?

Any tips or tricks are appreciated :c:

sounds like a good plan, both traction bars and ladder bars go in front of the rear axle, traction bars usually only attach to the bottom of the rear axle and ladder bars attach to both the top and bottom of the rear axle

air bags would most likly do you more good then a sway bar would

for additional sway control while towing you can add a rear panhard bar from the frame to the rear axle that runs parallel with the axle to hold it centered

check out our traction bars in our forum, we can make the panhard bar the same way i dont currently have any pics of the panhard setup because its still in the r and d stage

Is one better than the other for my application or is it more of a preference thing? I assume ladder bars would keep the axle from trying to roll or hop around a little better because of the upper and lower mounting points correct?

i know of some 1000hp pulling trucks that only use the single point traction bar setup

Alrighty then.. I guess that means they would be just fine on my mostly stock 1st gen.. And they dont look super hard to build

naw they are fairly easy to build, for your suspension stops for sled pulling most guys just make some that will bolt in place of the factory bump stop above the axle

Yeah I saw a few good designs in the pulling section on here so I pretty much have that figured out. And I've been doing alot of looking into building traction bars and I think I can have that done pretty quick and cheap
