95 dodge 2500 bushing replacement
 

Ive just ordered new bushings for my rear leaf spring and shackle.I have never replaced any bushings on my truck before, and would like to know what the best way to do them is.Also, do i have to have them press fit?any imput is greatly appreciated.thanks

Taking them out is AWFUL... Usually they dont come out without lots of torching, pressing, and hammering :td: I believe aftermarket bushings are usually a two piece correct? They are normally cake to install :tu:

thanks for the reply matt.I have not recieved my bushings yet,so I havent done the job.A friend of mine says that I will have to press the new ones in place.The bushings I ordered are polyurethane from energy suspension and im not certain that they are two piece.Do they have to be pressed in a a one piece?

Will be def 2 piece if they are poly. You can press in one side at a time then insert the sleeve afterwards. But yes they will be a fight to get the old ones out

Two piece bushings are easy. getting old bushings out is not :argh:

Good news, my bushings came today and they are 2 piece:tu:Now I am getting ready to start,do you guys recommend removing the leaf spring itself?that would be a ton of work and I hate to do it if i dont have to,but if it is not possible without then i'll do it.

no need to take them all the way off, just hope you have a torch handy... :w2:

Yep... You will most likely need to torch the hell outa them :argh:

sorry for the time lapse in between my posts.do I need to drop the axle?How long does it usually take to replace the bushings?I dont have a good place to jack up the truck at my house,but at my school I have an hour long auto period.so its possible,but difficult to get things done.Will it work to do one side at a time?:humm:Then I could knock it out in two days.

Depending on how stubborn the bushings are they may take a lot longer than an hour to get out...

I need to weld up one of the shackles on the back of my truck as it has a hole through it, But i need to get some new bushings as mine are not in great shape so not worth replacing, and will probbaly melt if i leave them in. I can't find any websites that sell just bushes, and postage on a full setof shcales is $200 so not a great option. Could you give me a link to where you got yours please?

sorry for the time lapse once more guys.I have been able to pick up some more hours at my work cuz the other guy quit...anyhow...I had not had a chance to do it till today.I have been fighting with them all day.Im looking at it now.Did you guys unbolt both the two front one:humm:s first?The way I read the message I was disconnecting one entire side.which way is right.

Does anyone have a trick to getting the drivers side front bushing out? It is right up against the fuel tank.

ok.so i got the new bushings in and have to say the they are working out very well. I am glad to say that the squeaking that has plagued my truck since i bought it is gone.Almost feels like a normal truck.ha ha.thanks for the support everybody.
