help me decide
 
without knowing the price difference, help me decide which tire, the BFG All-terrain KOs or the General Grabber AT2. this is for a 99 dodge cummins 2500 4x4 truck wieghs 7600 lbs without me in it

I can't give you stats on the General Grabbers, but maybe this will help you on the other choices. I was surprised to find that the Firestone's beat the BFGoodrich's in EVERY SINGLE CATEGORY of the survey. But I was just throwing that into the mix. I see you're in Columbus, so you get snow, so the Goodyears may be a good fit...and they look GREAT.

The BFG all terrains are a good tire and I had good luck with them, I haven't ran the general grapplers so I don't know how they wear

Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor, excellent all-round tire. I've now run 3 sets of these.

Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac, a new line from Goodyear. I will probably try these next. I have heard only 2 bad things about them. 1, slight (SLIGHT) increase in read noise. 2, softer then the Silent Armors, therefore quicker wear.

I've never been a fan of BFG A/T's, always thought them to be over ratted.

BFG All Terrains are terrible in pretty much anything if you ask me whether its mud, snow, dirt, or ice. A buddy of mine had some on his 95 Chevy 1500 with a 6 inch lift and it couldn't go anywhere off road because it had hardly any traction. They did last forever though. I would go with some Goodyear Wranglers, Wrangler silent armors, or the Duratracs. I have heard that the sidewalls on the General Grabbers are absolutely worthless.

I've had the BFG's and will never do it again... they did last forever tho - one good thing about them... I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Toyo Open Country's...

wow im surprised at the negative feelings toward the BFGs, i have them on my truck currently, iv got 91,000 miles on them and now they are bout bald. Im just trying to decide if theres better or similar out there. my issue is i cant seem to decide whether the load rating difference is a concern. I guess i should clarify that my truck is mainly a gravel and paved road machine with dyno pulls and sled pulls and the occassional off road blast but thats rare. Im just wanting some type of tough all terrain thatll be decent off road, not looking for a mud terrain or anything. just wanting something thatll last at least 50,000 miles. thatd last me about 3-4 years. i need something thatll be decent in snow too. :humm::humm:

If you have been happy with the BFG's so far, why change? You know, don't fix what aint broke. I have always had great luck with the BFG's myself, and have been told that the General's are just too soft for our trucks.

i ran nitto terra graps and liked them. they were good in sand and ok on mud....hooked real good on pavement. they didnt last as long as i would have liked but that was my fault i couldnt keep my foot out of it and spun the tires alot.

i tried michelin and they are the WORST tire ever made...after 20k they turned into an ht they had 0 claw.

i ran goodyears and had ok luck with them but i did a lift and wanted something more aggressive for the looks and my weekend wheeling

one u may look at that im running now is the interco ssm16. its really agressive but they are really well behaved on road and they are mean off road. so far ive got 10k on em and they look brand new.

I'm a Toyo fan. Open Country M/T on my F350 and W250. I've had the M55 before.

I like tires that are in the 3700-4000# weight class... all it takes is a good load of gravel or firewood and you've overloaded the garden-variety 235/85R16E tire (usually only 3042#)

I had general grabbers and i got 20,000 miles out of them and they were starting to sepereate around 15,000 miles.

imo, the best at ive been around is the hankook dynapro atm rf10

ive not heard anyone around that has them that has had any complaint. there a great at tire :tu:

i didnt like the bfg at and will never put a set on my vehicle again. my only experience is with used ones, 1/4 or less tread, and any time it would ran, it was like driving on ice

Im surprised also, I LOVE MY BFGs!! I have them on my jeep and my uncle has them on his Mega Cab and he loves them...and he's picky!! Anyway I personaly havnt had any problems with BFGs.

:tu:You have to find a Dealer but the "Big O" all terrain is the best tire for the money in my opinion. Lots of mileage, lots of siping for sticky grip, and the best warranty in the business. I have a set that are 13 YEARS OLD and still holding up a full size chevy van with fair tread left. I had them on a Blazer when I was 16 and tried my best to tear the hell out of them but they still look good.
