Rear End Lift Options
 

Been fightin with this issue of getting the rear end of the truck raised up 2"-3" without havin to go broke doin it. I won't spend a grand on a new spring pack, I sure don't like the idea of an even bigger block then what's already in there and I don't want the concrete block ride of the add a leaf kits' So my next thought is, can I just weld a taller spring perch to the axle. I could make this tall enough to even be able to get rid of that nasty old block that's in there stock. A welded in block would be much stronger and I could make it as tall as needed.

What are the issues gonna be with this idea.

i'm no engineer but i don't like it. i think if you never towed or loaded the bed i would be more comfortable with this but i don't like the increased leverage it's going to put on things. it's also going to make axle wrap a bigger problem.

what about building some super heavy duty spring shackles? i wouldn't go more than 2" though.

An elevated spring perch would add more twist then the block that's already in there or the even taller block that comes with some lifts. This is a question not a comment. I'm sure you must be right cause there has to be some reason nobody does this.

never mind about the shackles. ours go up and not down like i originally thought.

you need custom spring packs.

What about a shackle flip kit?

Have you looked into the mini packs from Carli? I tink they only raise the rear end 1.5-2" though.

I second the shackle flip idea. I thought ORD had Dodge versions. They don't list them on the site.

I have seen where some people have used an extra set of front hangers to mount the shackle on the rear. Could be low buck.

call up Alcan spring, they can make you a mini pack to give you the lift your wanting and it'll be cheeper then the kore, lorenz, carli packs.....i just had a set made for my 06

I'll second the Alcans....had a set mad for the front of my 92 and love em. As for the shackle flip, it depends on how you use the truck. You'll get a better ride, but lose some of your load and towing capacities. You'll also end up with a pretty severe pinion angle. If the pinion angle is a problem, you can always shim it back down. Go on pirate4x4.com and use the search feature. There was some info about shackle flips. You don't really need a kit. Some people use the factory parts, and some use some chevy parts.
I'd stay away from welding tall spring pads on the axle. I'd feel more comfortable with a good steel lift block with the center pins in the right place and a set of ladder bars.
