Tire trueing/truing???

Hi everyone, I need some help.

I put 22.5 wheels on my truck along with 255/70r22.5 tires and need to have them trued. Does anyone know of an place in the south west that does this? I regularly go to southern California, Utah, Arizona, and live in Vegas.

I had them balanced but the drive is not perfect and I get a vabration around 60 to 70mph.

Any help would be great - thanks everyone!

Not sure what you mean by trued, if you mean the tires are slightly out of round I would suggest breaking the beads loose from the rims and generously lubeing with murphys soap, or tire mounting compound (the messy black stuff) and reinflating to make sure they are properly seated on the rims. If the tires themselves are out of round any commercial retreader can throw them on a buffer and shave them down a little to take away any high spots, but if they're new take them back where you bought them and make them deal with the problem. They're not recaps are they ? :c:

Thanks for the post tiremann9669. My tires were shipped and not balanced but mounted to wheels. I took them to a local otr tire shop and had them balances but they are still not as smooth as my stockers (not that they ever will be). Several on-line places that sell 8 to 10 lug wheel and tire kits recommend tire truing while on the truck to ensure the smoothest ride.

Here is an example excerpt from one of the sites.
Do the tires come mounted & balanced?

All Direct bolt on Dually wheels comes with tires mounted & balanced ( Direct Bolt On 16", 17" & 19.5" Wheels ).

Dually Trucks 10 Lug Semi Wheel packages comes with tires mounted but not balance, the proper way to balance Semi Wheels with adaptors will be wile mounted on the truck like semi commercial trucks, we recommend to have all 6 tires trued and wheels balanced at the same time for best ride quality, specially with 19.5, 22.5 & 24.5 (14 & 16 ply) tires.

What is tire truing?

Tire truing is the process of making tires perfectly round to the wheel. Most tires are not perfectly round, due to a high spot on the tire. This condition is referred to as out-of-round. By gently shaving the high spot off of the tire, the out-of-roundness is corrected. Tire truing can benefit everyone who has a vehicle by reducing road vibrations, extending the life of a vehicles tires and suspension, and also improving fuel economy.

Has anyone ever done this or is this just a bunch of smoke?

OK now I understand you want to have them balanced on the truck so you're balancing hub and all together. Thats what they're talking about having them trued on the truck. Actual tire trueing (shaving) is what I told you about the retreader can do on a buffer wich is what shaves off the tread before the retreading process, most quality tires don't need this and if I bought new tires that did I would Insist the seller take them back. Do this though right were the tire meets the rim the tire has a line, make sure the gap is the same all the way around, if not have them broke down and the beads genoursly lubed and reseated, ir you mark on the tire where the valve stem is and keep it in the same spot it shouldn't affect your balance. Balancing on the truck is becoming a lost art but a large commercial tire dealer, or truck shop should be able to steer you in the right direction. You're right though you'll never get the feel and ride out of the 22.5's that you had with your stock tires, Good luck :c::pca1:

Thanks tiremann9669:c:

I put goodyear G622 on and the ride is pretty good. Some of the local OTR shops have pointed me to the local race track becuase they likely do this to their road corse cars. I will give them a shout and report back.

Thanks again!!!

Any luck with getting the tires trued?

Also where did you buy your tires at and how much. I am looking toward doing this conversion and I am looking for tire shops that carry that tire.
