He's actually pretty lucky the whole cap didn't come off, could have been much worse. Just like everything else when it comes to tires you get what you pay for. :c:

Agreed, could have been real bad. He said that chunk came off @ 70mph. Heard a thump, got out to inspect, didn't see anything, kept driving to their destination and his wife happened to notice it in the morning, luckily the tire was rolled to a spot she could see it.
