Suspension Options

Help me out here. I'm trying to help my father in law lift his 2nd gen 1500 and need some recommendations for suspension manufacturers. I know plenty for 2500s like Kore, Carli, etc but nothing for 1500s. He drives it like a race car so I'm looking for something that's got fast roots rather than a crap kidney killing typical lift.

He's got cash to burn so the budget's $5K (installed) but it needs to be something complete rather than a pieced together kit if at all possible. He's in the Tri-Cities, WA area so if you're a shop in that area reading it hit me up PM and we'll discuss.

I WORK AT TRUCK ADD ONS IN LEX. WE CAN SHIP OUR LIFTS. I LL CHECK AND SEE WAT I THINK WILL BE A GOOD LIFT. FOR WAT YOU WANT.

what year truck and how much lift is he looking for?

TRACTION 03-23-2010 04:45 PM

It's a 2001 single cab gasoline. He doesn't want a huge lift just something that has good on road handling. He doesn't wheel much maybe 10% so that's less of a need.

so like a 3 or 5 inch or something like that? What size tire is he looking for?

TRACTION 03-23-2010 09:50 PM

3" is probably most appropriate but it seems like most of the small lifts I've seen are pretty basic with coil spacers and AALs. Ideally it'd be low height, include control arms, and a full rear leaf, specific valved shocks, etc. He'll probably go with a 35" tire

Just for your information, a 3" lift on a 1500 will only fit a 33 without rubbing/trimming... 5" will fit 35's with ease and with a 5k budget he has alot of choices.

I would check out skyjacker, superlift or rancho. The skyjacker kits look like they have more than just add a leafs and front springs/spacers. I think I saw a 4" kit that had everything you were looking for. check out 4wheelparts.com. I would go there put in the specs of the truck and check it out for yourself.

skyjacker will take about 4-6 weeks to get if you cant find it in stock somewere.
