315's on a 2nd gen dodge with leveling kit?

I have an opportunity to get a set of 315/75/16 BFG at's from a guy I know for a pretty fair price, but as I am only running 285/75/16 right now, I am not sure if they will work without rubbing. I have 16x8 Ion 171 series wheels. Thanks.

315/75/16 will work with a leveling kit as long as it has as much or more back spacing as the stock 2nd gen rims. :tu:

Yea, they sit out a little farther than the stock wheels, make a heck of a mess in less than perfect weather!

then they will fit just fine :tu: take some pics when ya get the new tires on :rocking:

just watch that the rims can take a little bump so they don`t end up like this :ouch:

damn I miss that truck:cry:

Thanks for all the input guys, I did get them, for what I believe to be a good price. They are not new, but I think I should be able to get about another 10-15K miles out of them. Probably be awhile till I get pics of them, but I do need to get some pics of the truck up regardless.

315s no rub

bluetj 02-21-2010 09:21 PM

I tried a 315 on a H2 wheel on my 94. It cleared moving the truck around the drive and garage without rubbing. A friends 94 has run 35x12.5-16.5 since just after he bought the truck new without any leveling kit or lift.

im still trying to figure out offsets of wheels etc to work with my truck.

i'll be looking for some 315 e-rated to put on h2 wheel's soon

mopar26287 03-02-2010 08:22 AM

either way 315's or 35's they will fit, you just need to watch your back spacing on rims, 3rd and 4th generation trucks with 35's and stock rims work fins, they rub the control arms in a tight bind though.

i put 315x12.5x16 courser ct's on 16x10 eagle alloy rims and they rub a lil when i turn all the way

Backspacing on the wheels is truly a key component. I have the 2" leveler on the front and I just mounted up 315 Toyo's on my 16x8 Mickey Thompson Classic IIs and I get some pretty annoying rubbing between the tire and the rear inner fenderwell at lock just driving around town. These wheels only have 4" of backspacing so I think thats the problem since many others are reportedly running 315s with no rubbing at all. I think that if I had greater than 4.5" of backspacing on the wheels that they'd probably be fine, but that's not the case. So now, I'm trying to decide what my options are (more lift, trimming the inner fenders, new wheels with more BS, or go back down to 305s).
