Snow Plow Tires
alright mt question is just for you who plow snow. what tires do you like the best for plowin snow, tire size as well??
|
I run a 265 75 16 ets trail remold studded for plowing/winter and take them off as soon as it gets warm because they wear fast in the heat,on my third winter on this set,try to stick to a narrow tire for snow wide one don't give you much traction:scare2:

235/85/16 BF Goodrich Commercial T/A Tractions...best you can get...here is a link http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....T%2FA+Traction
|
we run a 285/65 R16. we,ve had good luck but the truck hasn't been turned up and were already runnin out of traction

I had a 1982 m1008 with a 6.2, the truck was equipt with STA Superlug 9.00x16 when I got it, they sucked (military tire).. I ended up finding some 15" wheels and installed some 33x10.5r15 BF goodrich MT that I got super cheap second hand, they were not that great for plowing. Looked cool, but lack of sipping made them a chore to drive in the snow with the added polw weight.
I would suggest a skinny tire with a lot of sipping. |
For snow you want a sipped all terrain, mud tires dont do well on roads with snow.
Im running Nitto terra graplers 285/70r17 on the mega cab SRW, just light plowing and they do well. And running 235/85r16 Goodyear wrangler dura trac's on the dually for heavy plowing, they have done really well in the 60+ inches of snow we have gotten this year. They are snow rated like the BFG commercial's above but are a little more aggresive. |
i plowed with a buddys pick up with 285 bfg all terrian ko's and was amazed at how good they worked
|
get some tire chains
|
Im runnin some Courser A/T 2 on my stock 18in rims. I'm very pleased with how they perform in deep snow and icy conditions. Just remember get taller tires instead of wider tires:tu:
|
my 98dodge that i got had new bfg km2 on it 325/70/16 i have never had a better tire in the snow
