so basically a 285/75/r16 would measue out

285mm wide tire or 11.2 in wide tire.
(285x75%)/25.4 = 8.42 inch tall sidewalls

then you can take the sidewall height x 2 and add the size of rim and you get the height of the tire = 32.83" tall

This is the trimming im referring to when you need to trim the fender to fit 35's under there.

GMFullsize Forums - View Single Post - show me how you trim

i did it to my truck and i can fit the 33's under there with my cv's flat for racing or pulling, with no rub. im switching to h2 wheels and 35's when its time to get new tires cause the wheels i have are oddly shaped

35's will fit with stock wheels,2"leveling kit and a little trimming. 315/75R16 is roughly 35X12.50R16. We somehow stuffed some 35's on a leveled 09 Duramax with aftermarket wheels and some trimming. But every truck is different.

you can just crank up the tortion bars, you dont need a leveling kit

Well I already bought, the leveling kit and it is installed. So it is a little late for that. I would really like to find a tire i guess in metric that, is not quite as wide as a 35x12.50 but is a little taller than a 285/75/16 I know that is pretty picky!

i just picked up some 315/70/r17

im getting them mounted on some h2 wheels today and might throw them on, they do fit ;)

these are 315/70/r17 on h2 wheels.

my cv's are flat in this pic, but with my cut up fenderwell they dont rub.

eventually when i get bored i will add a one inch block to the rear and crank up the t bars for a higher ride.

all around the truck roze from 1" to 1.5" bumper to bumper

your truck looks real good. I would like to have a set of H2 wheels myself!

I think even 285's are pushing it for the stock rims. All the tires I looked at buying the recommended rim width for a 285 is 8" wide. It might do fine for just driving around, but with any amount of heavy hauling I'd rather have that margin of safety and run an 8" rim.

Yeah GM wanted people to only run stock tires sizes originally because they didn't feel like reprogramming everybody's transmission when fatter and taller tires were used.
