Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels I found Specialty Tires of America last night......I am going with the Trailbreakers in either 1200R15 or 35x14.50R15.......I will mount the 1200's on 10 inch wide factory style steel wheels or the 14.50's on 12 inch wide factory style steel wheels.......I got a guy that will build me the rims for about 100 a piece, just get the rim shells and weld in the factory centers......It depends on how much lift I go with and how they will fit......I plan on around 4-6 inches of lift...... This truck will never see mud, show only.......I am keeping it old school, so the old bias directional tires are the only thing that will look right......

Might be something here Universal Vintage Tire that interests ya. Also found this: Light Truck Bias Ply Tires. Go to ebay and search "vintage truck tires". There are a few directional-type (think 70's era) 4x4 tires up for bid. The sellers my be able to steer you in the right direction of finding some.

I would of went with a newer style tire IF I was going to modernize the truck but i am keeping the old school look of the truck, wide steel wheels, no creature comforts, bias ply tires, that sort of thing, resto-mod setup....... Denman Tire....they have some vintage looking tires. You can still get the Buckshots in bias ply old school sizes, too.

check out the military tires by michelin. i know you said you want bias and they make radials, but the look of them is very old school. its what they use on their old jeeps and military trucks i looked into them when i was planning a similar project and they make them for 16.5" rims as well.
here is a link to some. there are a bunch of different tread patterns check ebay for alot of them. http://militarytires.com/ http://www.stausaonline.com/military/index.html http://www.usatireproducts.com/military.html hopefully itll work out for ya. best thing about them is theyre very cheap and good tires and youll get alot of miles on them too |
