Air Bags?
Was wondering if it is possible to remove a leaf out of the rear of a 1 ton and install air bags to improve the ride quality but not loos any of the towing capabilitly? the reason i ask is i have to have the towing capability for work, but my girlfriend has MS and i need her to be comfortable in the truck when we are travelling. Thanks for your time guys.

You may want to look into Air Helper spring kits? That may be a solution with out having to drop a leaf.

I put a single air bag in the middle of my rearend. Instead of taking a leaf out I cut the back off of the overload and next leaf up. It rides like a dream now and when I turn on the compressor the air bag has a ride controller off of a big truck. It works great for me.

theres a kit I saw in Diesel World mag. that converts you rear suspension to a 4 link w/ air bags. Probably expensive but worth it. If i can find a link i'll post it.

I have a kelderman system in the back of my one ton and I makes the ride SO much better. What it does is takes the rear shackle off and incorperates it into the air ride suspension. Here is a pic of it on the back of my 1st gen. The newer systems have a class 3 or 4 hitch built in and go from the back to the front and use 2 bags.

The firestone Ride Rite kit works great for me. I run about 20 psi in them on my 2500 even when I don't have a load. This also raises the rear of the truck about 3/4" giving me a little bit of a positive rake with my front leveling kit. I think I payed $250 for my kit.
Looking at the load that these can handle, I think you could loose a leaf out of your rear and gain a way better ride... Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs | Most Kits Ship Same Day | Truckspring.com |

This is similar to the set up I saw in diesel world |
